Job summary

Garver Engineering is seeking a Structural Engineer for their Water Design Center in College Station, Texas. Job description

Overview

Structural Engineer (SE license required) in Garver's Water Design Center, College Station, Texas. The Structural Engineer will develop structural designs in support of water and wastewater treatment projects and lead a project team to produce plans and specifications and manage workload on Water Business Line projects. The role focuses on providing structural support for water and wastewater plants and related facilities.



Responsibilities


  • Leading a project team producing structural designs for water and wastewater treatment facilities, pump stations, lift stations, tanks, vaults, and other ancillary structures associated with water and sewer infrastructure projects.

  • Designs may include treatment process basins, chemical facilities, administration buildings, retaining walls, and other supporting structures.

  • The structural group is responsible for design calculations, coordination with other disciplines and offices, construction cost estimating, and quality assurance and control.

  • Assist the Structural Group Leader in managing and mentoring teams, coordinating schedules, monitoring budgets, and ensuring delivery of quality work products that adhere to Garver standards.

  • Travel may be required for field work and site assessments during construction.



Primary responsibilities


  • Leading a project team in the production of structural designs with a high degree of autonomy.

  • Quality program compliance, ensuring delivery of quality work products that adhere to Garver standards.

  • Work within a multi-disciplined team (civil, process, mechanical, electrical, and I&C) of engineers, designers, and technicians on Water Business Line projects.

  • Manage multiple projects concurrently.

  • Time management and work product quality.

  • Mentor and develop junior team members to handle increasingly complex assignments as they grow.



Requirements


  • Registered Structural Engineer (SE).

  • Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering from an ABET-accredited program.

  • Technically competent in general structural engineering design in concrete, masonry, aluminum and structural steel.

  • Proven experience overseeing structural designs, including detailed plans and specifications for major projects.

  • Good communication skills (verbal and written).

  • Strong teaching and coaching skills to bring new team members up to speed.



Preferred Skills


  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Revit CAD programs.

  • Experience using Bluebeam and MS Office products, including Excel, Outlook and Word.

  • Experience working with a multi-disciplinary team comprising process, structural, building mechanical, electrical and instrumentation and control disciplines.

  • Active participation in local professional organizations.
