Job summary

Tetra Tech in Ann Arbor, MI is seeking a Structural Engineer, PE, to join our team on challenging projects. You will lead teams of engineers and designers, interface with clients through design and construction, and ensure projects meet time, budget, and quality standards.

You will mentor junior staff, prepare and review structure calculations and models, and develop designs using Revit and RISA 3D, with opportunities to work in a flexible or hybrid schedule and pursue PE licensure.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience as a Structural Engineer.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
  • Experience designing with structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, aluminum, and cold-formed steel.
  • Proficiency with structural engineering software such as RISA 3D.
  • Willingness to learn Revit if not already proficient.

Essential Job Functions:

Lead teams of Structural Engineers and Designers on large-scale projects.

Interface directly with clients throughout design and construction phases.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.

Professional Structural Engineer (SE) license.

Experience designing structures for regions with hurricanes or high seismic activity.

Prior experience applying Federal Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) design guidelines.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to sit, stand, and work at a computer for extended periods.

Capable of occasional lifting up to 25 pounds (such as carrying drawings, field equipment, or laptops).

Must be able to visually inspect construction sites, including climbing ladders, walking on uneven surfaces, and entering confined spaces as required for site visits.

Frequent use of hands and fingers for computer and technical drawing work.

Must have adequate vision and hearing to perform design review and field inspection duties safely.

Work is primarily performed in an office environment with moderate noise levels.

Occasional travel to project sites, client meetings, and construction locations is required (domestic or regional).

Field work may involve exposure to outdoor weather conditions, active construction zones, and varying terrain.

Must comply with all site safety requirements, including use of personal protective equipment (PPE) when applicable.

Flexible or hybrid work arrangements may be available depending on project and client needs.
