Job summary

Los Alamos National Laboratory seeks a Structural Engineer to design and renovate facilities within the plutonium complex. You will modify buildings and structures, install equipment on supports, and develop robust structural solutions in a high-security environment.

The role encompasses collaboration with junior and senior engineers, mentoring, calculations, and leadership to deliver full-system designs. A Bachelor's in Engineering and relevant experience are required, with EIT/PE designs

Qualifications

• Knowledge of non-reactor facility structural engineering systems and calculations.
• Experience with structural analysis software (SAP 2000, GT STRUDL, RISA, STAAD).
• Familiarity with DOE standards and laboratory procedures.
• Understanding of IBC, AISC 360, ACI 318, ASCE 7 standards and DOE-STD 1020.

Responsibilities

• Designs renovating rooms and modifying structures around plutonium facilities.
• Develop crane girders, canopies, and equipment support structures.
• Collaborate with senior engineers on full-system design solutions and mentoring.
