Job summary

Brindley Engineering in Lisle, IL is seeking an entry-level Civil/Structural Engineer to support field evaluation of existing structures and assist in developing calculations and analytical models.

You will produce basic sketches for drafting and help prepare reports while learning under licensed P.E.’s and S.E.’s, with exposure to challenging industrial facilities. The role emphasizes safety, client requirements, and EIT progression.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering is required.
• Experience: 0–1+ years desired; exposure to fieldwork is a plus.
• Basic knowledge of design codes; willingness to learn under licensed engineers.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor of Science in Civil / Structural Engineering


• Experience: Min Yr = 0Max Yr = 1+


• Licensure: Eligible to take E.I.T. within one year of start date preferred


• Technical Skills: Basic knowledge of design codes required. Working knowledge of AutoCAD preferred


• Management: No management experience required


• Other Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills

Professional Development Opportunities:

• Some exposure to field work environments in various industrial facilities


• Learn the basics of developing calculations and analytical models of structures

Individual field assignments typically each have their own unique requirements. Prior to deployment on any field assignment, you must be able to meet all client-specific site requirements. Should you be unable or unwilling to meet assignment-specific requirements, your continued employment would then be subject to the availability of other assignments whose requirements can be met. These unique requirements may include:

• You must possess physical mobility (on the ground and at heights).


• You may be required to pick up, lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs.


• You may be required to work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and may occasionally work off platforms/scaffolding/ladders using the appropriate and required fall protection.


• You must be able to work in all weather conditions (including heat, rain, cold, and wind) while wearing the appropriate PPE. This may include but not be limited to a hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs, masks/respirators, hi-vis safety vests, leather gloves, and leather, steel-toed work boots.


• You may be required to position yourself to work in confined spaces


• You may be required to adhere to a client’s random drug testing program prior to entering their site.


• You may be required to meet a client’s facial hair safety policy prior to entering their site.

Pay Range: $18.00 per hour - $28.00 per hour The above pay range represents a general guideline; however, Brindley considers several factors when determining base salary that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to the candidate's depth of experience, skill set, certifications, specific work location, and current market conditions. Employees may be eligible for discretionary bonus and/or other applicable incentive compensation plans in addition to base pay to reward individual contributions and allow employees to share in company results.
