Job summary

Thornton Tomasetti is offering a Structural Engineer Intern position for the summer of 2027 in our Structural Practice and Construction Engineering Practice. You will contribute to analysis and detailing across steel, concrete, masonry, and timber systems while collaborating with engineers and architects to deliver coordinated designs.

You will assist in preparing construction documents within a BIM environment and gain experience with industry-standard tools such as Revit and RAM.

Qualifications

• Current undergraduate or graduate student pursuing civil, structural, or architectural engineering.
• Strong academic record and demonstrated passion for structural design and engineering problem solving.
• Familiarity with SAP2000, ETABS, RAM, StructurePoint, and Revit is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the structural analysis, design and detailing of steel, concrete, masonry and timber systems across a variety of building project types.
• Collaborate closely with engineers, architects, and other design professionals to support the delivery of high-quality, coordinated designs.

The Thornton Tomasetti Construction Engineering Practice leverages our core Structural Engineering expertise to meet the engineering needs of our contractor. We provide contractor support engineering, tower crane engineering, skip hoist engineering, shoring and reshoring design, connection design, and erection engineering. We also partner with contractors and sub-contractors to provide value engineering ideas and perform structural design on design-build projects.
