Job summary

Stubbs Engineering, Inc. is seeking a Structural Engineer in Training to grow through hands-on project experience. You will work alongside seasoned engineers, gaining exposure to calculations, design development, and construction documents while building a solid foundation for a long-term structural engineering career.

The role emphasizes mentorship, collaboration, and professional growth within a team-focused environment, with hybrid work flexibility based on project needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
  • Passed, scheduled to take, or actively preparing for the NCEES Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam.
  • Registered Engineer in Training (EIT) or Engineer Intern (EI), or ability to obtain certification.
  • Foundational understanding of structural and civil engineering principles.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and solid organizational skills.
  • Willingness to learn, ask questions, and grow within a team environment.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with structural calculations using established engineering principles and design standards.
  • Support the preparation and development of construction documents.
  • Help with structural analysis and design for building projects.
  • Coordinate design concepts with drafters, engineers, and internal project teams.
  • Participate in field investigations and occasional site visits under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Conduct standard computations and analyses to support project development.
  • Learn how to review project documents, construction details, and code requirements.
  • Collaborate with team members to support successful project delivery.

Stubbs Engineering is looking for a Structural Engineer in Training who is ready to grow, learn, and contribute to meaningful building projects. In this role, you’ll work alongside experienced engineers, gain hands-on structural design experience, and build the technical foundation needed for a long-term career in structural engineering.

What You’ll Do

What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications
  • Internship, co-op, or academic project experience related to structural engineering
  • Familiarity with construction materials, methods, and basic engineering practices
  • Exposure to construction documents, structural drawings, or BIM/Revit workflows
  • Interest in pursuing Professional Engineer licensure
Software Experience

Experience with any of the following is a plus, and training will be provided:

  • RISA

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
