Kingfish Coastal Engineering & Permitting in Bradenton, Florida, is looking for an Engineer in Training to assist in designing docks, seawalls, and marinas along Florida's Gulf Coast. You will receive mentorship from the Owner / P.E. and gain hands-on experience in preparing structural plans and calculations.
The role emphasizes complex marine structure design, with detailed training provided. No prior waterfront experience is required, making this an excellent opportunity to grow your engineering skills.
1 to 4 Years of Engineering Experience (no waterfront specific experience required)
Kingfish Coastal is hiring an Engineer in Training to help design docks, seawalls, marinas, and other waterfront structures along Florida’s Gulf Coast, from Tampa down to Sarasota.
No waterfront or marine-specific experience is required. Coastal structural design is a niche field, and we expect to provide significant training for someone who is motivated to develop a strong technical design skillset.
In this role, you will work directly under the Owner / P.E. and help prepare structural calculations, construction plans, and environmental permitting applications for waterfront projects. You will learn how to design structures exposed to waves, wind, corrosion, hurricanes, environmental constraints, and Florida coastal conditions.
The real benefits are:
The challenging part of this role is that the work is complex at times and detail oriented. Very few engineers design marine structures because of this, but you are well compensated for the level of difficulty.
Prior boating or fishing experience is not required, but it certainly does not hurt.
