Job summary

LJC in Kansas City is looking for a Structural Engineer II to join their design team. This role involves collaborating with Development, Architecture, and Construction teams to provide structural design for diverse projects nationwide.

Ideal candidates should have a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering and at least 2 years of experience. Knowledge of CAD and structural analysis software is preferred. LJC offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits including a discretionary annual bonus.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience designing commercial projects.
• Experience with industrial, mission critical, and/or life sciences projects preferred.
• Ability to produce code-compliant construction documents under senior guidance.

Responsibilities

• Define and develop preliminary structural systems coordinating with other design trades.
• Project designs based on construction schedule versus fully finished package.
• Conduct ongoing value engineering as the design is refined.

Skills

Knowledge of CAD software (AutoCad, Revit)

Experience with structural analysis software (Tekla Structural Designer)

Strong written and oral communication skills

Team-oriented mindset

Education

The Role We Want You For

Clayco is currently seeking a Structural Engineer II to join our design team. In this role you will be working with in-house Development, Architecture, and Construction teams to provide Structural Design on industrial, mission critical, life sciences, and residential projects for our nationwide clients.

The Specifics of the Role

• Define and develop preliminary structural systems that coordinate with other design trades in an effort to provide a collaborative design.
• Project designs based on construction schedule versus fully finished package.
• Preliminary pricing advantages due to historical construction experience.
• Value engineering is ongoing as the design is refined.
• Input from jobsite can identify construction issues.
• Projects can be designed to the builder’s strength.
• Easier for engineer to issue changes or make revisions.
• Opportunity for site and Quality visits to assist in solving field issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering required; Master’s Degree with Structural emphasis preferred
• Minimum of 2 years of experience designing commercial projects
• Experience with industrial, mission critical, and/or life sciences projects preferred
• Knowledge of CAD software, such as AutoCad and Revit
• Experience with structural analysis software such as Tekla Structural Designer
• Ability to produce code-compliant, coordinated construction documents under senior engineer guidance
