Guardian Engineering Enterprises, LLC seeks a Structural Engineer to join our team in either our Houston, TX, Chicago, IL, or Brooklyn, NY office.

The Structural Engineer will perform design assignments for equipment, components, structures, and systems with a growing focus on AI infrastructure, data center solutions, and mission-critical facilities.

Primary Responsibilities

• Prepare specifications and design requirements detailing client performance needs, design codes, and vendor drawing standards for structural systems and building components.

• Assist in designing structural systems for data centers and industrial facilities, emphasizing reliability, equipment support capacity, and load-bearing performance.

• Support the design of high-performance computing facility structures with focus on heavy equipment loads, foundations, and equipment support in AI accelerator environments.

• Prepare engineering sketches, load analyses, and member sizing calculations, developing structural analysis models for project assignments, including foundation design.

• Contribute to the design of equipment support structures and foundations to ensure integrity and operational reliability for mission‑critical AI and data center infrastructure.

• Assist in developing specifications for materials and systems such as structural steel, reinforced concrete, and equipment foundations for advanced industrial applications.

• Review vendor drawings for compliance with project specifications and communicate effectively with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and consultants.

• Support the implementation of efficient structural design solutions to enhance performance and address specialized requirements like vibration isolation.

• Work within schedule and budget constraints, maintaining company quality standards and following established engineering review procedures.

• Coordinate structural design integration with architectural, mechanical, and electrical systems for optimized layouts in complex infrastructure environments.

• Comply with all health, safety, security, and environmental (HSSE) standards, and actively participate in hazard identification and mitigation programs.

• Support client relationships through professional communication, assist with discipline‑specific estimates, and share technical knowledge collaboratively with the project team.

Experience & Skill Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required (Civil Engineering with structural emphasis or Structural Engineering preferred).

  • Degree from an ABET‑accredited institution preferred.

• EIT certification preferred; PE license a plus.

• 2–5 years of experience in structural engineering; field experience a plus.

• Familiarity with structural software such as SAP2000, ETABS, RISA, RAM Structural System, and proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit Structure.

• Exposure to data center structural systems, including heavy equipment loads, raised floors, and foundation design for mission‑critical applications.

• Basic knowledge of AI hardware structural infrastructure, such as GPU/TPU support systems and rack anchorage design.

• Understanding of structural steel, reinforced concrete, and foundation engineering for commercial and industrial projects.

• Foundational understanding of load path design, seismic principles and interest in advanced structural systems for high‑performance environments.

• Interest in sustainable and optimized design practices, with working knowledge of IBC, AISC, ACI, ASCE 7, and related standards.

• Ability to analyze structural loads, design anchorage systems and understand construction methods relevant to data center infrastructure.

• Strong team collaboration, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to manage time effectively.

• Experience with cross‑discipline coordination and understanding of construction sequencing for integrated building systems.
