Job summary

Source One Technical Solutions, LLC is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to support an Electric Transmission & Distribution engineering team in South Plainfield, NJ. The role focuses on civil/structural design, analysis, construction drawings, and field support.

Hybrid work arrangement (3 days onsite / 2 days remote) with a pay rate up to $96/hr. You will lead structural design for transmission structures, foundations, and related construction activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• NJ PE license and 8+ years of civil/structural engineering experience.
• Experience with steel transmission structures and foundations.
• Proficiency with the listed design tools (PLS-POLE, PLS-TOWER, RISA, STAAD.Pro, LPILE, GROUP, FAD, AutoCAD, MicroStation).

Responsibilities

• Perform complex civil/structural calculations and analyses.
• Prepare construction drawings for steel, concrete structures, and foundations.
• Design and detail steel transmission structures and lattice/tubular towers.
• Prepare reinforcement drawings for existing facilities and foundations.
• Design underground duct banks and manholes; provide field support.
• Review technical aspects and provide engineering guidance to junior staff.

Hybrid | 3 Days Onsite / 2 Days Remote

Pay Rate: Up to $96/hr.

We are seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to support an Electric Transmission & Distribution engineering and construction organization in South Plainfield, NJ.

This is a hands-on engineering role focused on civil/structural design, analysis, construction drawings, transmission structures, foundations, and field construction support.

What You'll Do

• Perform complex civil/structural calculations and engineering analysis
• Prepare construction drawings for steel, aluminum, concrete structures, and foundations
• Design and detail steel transmission structures, including lattice towers and tubular steel poles/structures
• Prepare structural and foundation reinforcement drawings for existing facilities
• Perform underground duct bank and manhole structural design
• Provide field construction support
• Perform technical reviews and provide engineering guidance
• Provide technical direction and guidance to junior engineers
• Help resolve complex structural and engineering issues

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
• 8+ years of civil/structural engineering experience
• Experience with major civil/structural construction, alteration, renovation, or modification projects
• Experience designing steel transmission structures, including lattice towers and tubular steel poles
• Strong structural and foundation design experience
• Experience with deep foundations, including caissons, driven piles, helical foundations, and/or vibratory caissons
• Experience with underground duct bank and manhole structural design
• Working knowledge of applicable utility and engineering standards, including NESC, ASME, ACI, ASTM, and ASCE
• New Jersey Professional Engineer (PE) license
• Proficiency with PLS-POLE, PLS-TOWER, RISA, and STAAD.Pro
• Experience with LPILE, GROUP, and FAD or similar foundation design tools
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Valid U.S. driver's license and safe driving history

Nice to Have

• Advanced technical or engineering degree
• Experience with NESC, PJM, and PSE&G loading criteria
• Experience preparing bottom-up engineering estimates
• Knowledge of excavation stability, subgrade preparation, backfilling, soil thermal/electrical properties, and dewatering

Schedule: Hybrid — 3 days onsite / 2 days remote

Pay: Up to $96/hr.

Driving: Required to/from standard client work locations; mileage is eligible for reimbursement
