Job summary

Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. in Orlando, FL is seeking a Structural Engineer to join our Cities and Places buildings team.

You will independently execute analysis and design tasks, mentor junior staff, and help deliver code‑compliant structures across government, commercial, data centers, and higher education projects. You’ll lead design of steel, concrete, and masonry systems, prepare calculations and drawings, coordinate with architects and other disciplines, and participate in project

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and US PE license required.
  • 7+ years of structural design experience in building structures.
  • Proficient with ETABS/SAP2000, RISA, RAM Suite, and Revit.
  • Strong knowledge of US building codes (IBC/ASCE/IBC).
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead structural design and analysis of steel, concrete, and masonry systems.
  • Prepare calculations, reports, drawings, and specifications for projects.
  • Coordinate with architects and other engineering disciplines.
  • Meet project scope, schedule, and quality objectives.

We are seeking a Structural Engineer to join our Cities and Places buildings team inOrlando, FL. In this role, you’ll work alongside experienced architects and engineers to contribute to the design of structural systems across a diverse portfolio of building types, including local government, commercial, mission-critical environments, data centers, and higher education projects.

As a structural engineer, you will independently execute analysis and design tasks under a senior engineer or lead technical efforts independently. This role will also mentor junior team members and interns, manage aspects of project delivery, and provide quality control reviews to peers. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality, code-compliant designs while balancing scope, schedule, and budget.

What you’ll do
  • Lead structural design and analysis of steel, concrete, and masonry building systems
  • Prepare calculations, reports, drawings, and specifications for a variety of projects
  • Support coordination with architects and other engineering disciplines
  • Contribute to meeting project scope, schedule, and quality objectives
  • Participate in project meetings and assist with construction administration
  • Oversee and mentor junior engineering staff
Here’s what you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
  • Professional engineering license in the US
  • 7+ years of relevant structural design experience in vertical building structures, including steel, concrete, and masonry
  • Proficiency with structural design and analysis software (e.g., ETABS/SAP2000, RISA, RAM Suite)
  • Proficiency with Revit and BIM coordination
  • Strong knowledge of US building codes and standards (e.g., IBC, FBC, ASCE)
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
Ideally, you’ll also have
  • Master’s degree in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis
  • Demonstrated progressive structural design experience including complex projects
  • Experience leading projects and small teams
  • Interest in working across diverse building types and project scales

The base salary range for this position is $85,000.00 to $126,800.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
