Job summary

RTR Energy Solutions, Inc. is seeking a Structural Engineer to support utility infrastructure projects in New Jersey.

You will perform structural analysis and design for transmission and distribution facilities, develop drawings and models, and ensure compliance with codes and client requirements. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; advanced degree is a plus.

Role Description

The Structural Engineer will support utility infrastructure projects by performing structural analysis and design for transmission, distribution, and related facilities. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing and reviewing calculations, developing structural drawings and models, and ensuring designs meet applicable codes, standards, and client requirements. The role involves collaborating with project managers, civil engineers, and field teams to integrate structural solutions into overall project plans, as well as supporting constructability reviews and providing technical guidance during construction. The Structural Engineer will also assist in preparing technical reports, specifications, and documentation for internal and client use. This is a full-time hybrid role based in New Jersey, United States, with a combination of on-site work and some work-from-home flexibility.

Qualifications
  • Strong foundation in Structural Engineering and Civil Engineering, with the ability to apply engineering principles to utility infrastructure projects.
  • Proficiency in Structural Analysis and engineering Calculations to evaluate loads, member capacities, and overall system performance.
  • Hands-on experience with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools for creating and modifying structural drawings and models.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or closely related field); advanced degree is a plus.
  • Knowledge of relevant building codes, industry standards, and utility design practices.
  • Ability to interpret survey data and work with multidisciplinary teams, including project management and field personnel.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills, with attention to detail and safety-focused decision-making.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or progress toward licensure is preferred.
  • Experience with utility or energy sector projects and familiarity with LiDAR, 3D models, or related technologies is beneficial.
