Job summary

NORR Architects Engineers Planners is seeking a Structural Engineer to join our team to develop resilient design solutions for diverse building projects. You will collaborate with the engineering team to translate design intent into efficient technical drawings throughout all project phases.

Ideal candidates have 7–10 years of experience in structural engineering, strong knowledge of building codes, and professional registration.

Responsibilities

• Design structural components of buildings, integrating with architectural design.

We are seeking a Structural Engineer who will work with members of the engineering team in order to develop engineering design solutions appropriate to the context, budget, and aesthetic requirements of building projects. The individual will have the ability to analyze and understand design intent in order to produce efficient and effective technical design solutions. They will collaborate with other professional disciplines and coordinate the design through all phases of the project using their knowledge of building engineering systems, building materials, building codes, and construction technologies.

You Will Make an Impact by

• Designs structural components of the overall building, including integrating architectural design and adhering to applicable design codes and jurisdictional requirements
• Evaluates engineering design requirements and creates construction drawings for new construction projects, as well as modifications to existing buildings
• Performs engineering activities such as calculations, code research, material and building systems research and laying out structural building components
• Performs site visits during new construction projects, as well as site visits to evaluate existing building conditions in areas of proposed structural modifications
• Reviews shop drawings and responds to RFIs during the construction administration phase of the project

You Will Bring to the Team

• Proficient in Engineering software skills, including AutoCAD, Revit, as well as structural engineering systems design software
• Engineering knowledge related to building structural systems and multiple building types
• Familiarity witharchitectural design concepts and building codes is required
• Have successfully completed related post-secondary education
• Registered with a relevant professional engineering association
• 7-10 years of project work experience
• Experience in structural engineering buildings systems

The hiring base salary range for this vacant position is $90,000.00 - $125,000.00 annually. Actual compensation will be based on several factors such as work location, education, experience, internal equity and skills.
