Job summary

HDR in Overland Park, KS seeks a Structural EIT/Coordinator to join our Building Engineering Services team. You will support design analyses, prepare cost estimates and specifications, and review documents for multidisciplinary coordination on building projects.

Preferred qualifications include a Master's in Civil Engineering with a Structural emphasis and EIT certification; 2+ years' experience in structural design for buildings. HDR promotes an employee-owned culture and career growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering is required.
• Master's degree in Civil Engineering with Structural emphasis is preferred.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate is preferred; candidates without EIT will use the title Coordinator and are expected to obtain EIT for progression.
• Experience at an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm is preferred.
• 2+ years designing structural systems for building projects.

Responsibilities

• Conduct analyses to develop design options or recommendations and assist in the preparation of cost estimates and specifications for structural engineering projects.
• Perform routine engineering assignments requiring application of standard techniques and procedures.
• Review structural documents for areas of conflict with all disciplines.
• Write/edit electrical specifications, select equipment and electrical devices.
• Take on contract administration responsibilities requiring field inspections and conflict resolution.
• Work independently on small projects or assist more senior engineers on larger projects.
• Give direction to clerical and technical personnel as needed.
• Perform other duties as needed.
