Job summary

Substation Engineering Company is seeking a junior-level design professional to support civil and structural drawings for substation infrastructure. Under supervision, you will produce sketches and drawings, ensure technical quality, and help resolve design interferences across disciplines.

You will use 2D/3D CAD tools such as MicroStation or AutoCAD, collaborate with project teams, and manage deadlines while developing your skills in a fast-growing power utility environment.

Qualifications

• 0-4 years progressively responsible design experience.
• Associate's degree or trade school certificate preferred.
• Familiar with basic engineering and design/drafting concepts.
• Ability to discuss routine technical problems and communicate with supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Develop civil & structural drawings for proposed substation infrastructure under supervision.

Job Description:

Junior-level design position performing work assignments involving independent judgment to determine a course of action consistent with established functional and organizational policies and goals. Proficient in design and able to utilize design tools effectively.

About the Role:

• Under Project Manager's/Professional Engineer's supervision, develops drawings and sketches such as civil & structural design drawings for proposed substation infrastructure.
• Ensures project deliverables for technical quality, accuracy and compliance with Company and Client standards.
• Prepares design sketches utilizing theoretical and practical design knowledge for drawing/model preparation by lower-level Designers or CAD Technicians.
• Reviews and resolves design interferences/clashes.

Qualifications:

• 0-4 years progressively responsible discipline related design experience.
• Associate's degree or trade school certificate preferred.
• Familiar with basic engineering and/or design/drafting concepts.
• General understanding of other disciplines' roles in the design process.
• Ability to complete tasks in accordance with project procedures and applicable codes and/or standard.
• Ability to discuss routine technical problems and communicate effectively with immediate supervisor and other project personnel.
• Ability to utilize advanced PC, 2D and 3D CAD and other applicable hardware and software to perform duties, particularly MicroStation or AutoCAD.
• Proficient in design and able to utilize design tools effectively.
• Ability to meet deadlines and manage priorities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

The anticipated hourly rate for this position is $26-$33, depending on qualifications and relevant experience. Candidates with exceptional, directly relevant expertise may be considered outside the anticipated range, subject to the scope of the role, internal equity, and compensation approval.
