Job summary

Valdeseng is seeking a Structural Designer with 2+ years of civil/structural design experience in an engineering setting (industrial, manufacturing, or oil & gas). The candidate may field-walk to clarify client requirements and collaborate across disciplines to deliver structural deliverables.

The role emphasizes 2D/3D CAD proficiency, Revit and Navisworks expertise, and mentorship of junior staff, with a focus on adhering to industry codes and producing accurate construction drawings.

Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma, Associated Degree or higher preferred.
• Experience: 2+ years in design or drafting field.
• Demonstrate technical competencies of a Structural Designer.
• Detail both concrete and steel connections.
• Skillful 2D and 3D CAD expertise.
• Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills.
• US work authorization now and in the future.

Responsibilities

• Perform technical responsibilities required of a Structural Designer.
• Be open to gaining structural experience from department colleagues.
• Perform field walkdowns with project team to clarify client requirements.
• Coordinate project activities between Structural and other disciplines.
• Create and review project structural deliverables.
• Mentor less experienced designers and technicians.
• Assist with Scope Development and help maintain Budget Control for the CAD team on projects.
• Demonstrate expertise with Valdes' structural engineering work practices.
• Demonstrate expertise in using Revit and Navisworks in 3D modeling.
• Prepare structural scopes of work and material take-offs.
• Develop understanding of construction drawings (Plans, Sections, Details, Piping Isometrics).
• Continue to develop expertise with prevalent structural industry codes (AISC, ACI).
• Detail both concrete and steel connections.
• Support CAD efforts outside of CSA when necessary.
• Perform and support CAD audits.
