Job summary

Farnsworth Group is seeking a detail‑oriented Structural Designer with 5 years of experience in the A/E industry, including hands‑on exposure to semiconductor facilities and Tool Install projects. You will develop design documents, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and support installation of specialized equipment within complex industrial environments.

Posting locations include Boise, ID and Phoenix, AZ, with on‑site responsibilities and team collaboration across disciplines.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of structural CAD/Revit design experience in A/E.
  • Experience with semiconductor/advanced manufacturing facilities.
  • Familiarity with tool install requirements (anchorage and support design).
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit; 3D modeling tools preferred.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Building Systems software and cloud-based collaboration.
  • Understanding of structural systems, materials (steel/concrete), and detailing.
  • Ability to visualize 3D structural and architectural elements.
  • Ability to interpret engineering calculations and apply to design drawings.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; strong written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

  • Develop structural design drawings, models, and construction documents using AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Perform structural layout and detailing for semiconductor fabrication facilities.
  • Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, process, and architectural teams.
  • Assist in equipment support structures, platforms, anchorage systems, and seismic bracing.
  • Review vendor drawings and equipment loads for proper integration.
  • Conduct field investigations and support construction activities.
  • Ensure compliance with BIM specs, installation details, and drafting standards.
  • Support project schedules and deliverables with high-quality work.
  • Participate in design reviews, clash detection, and coordination meetings.

Job description

Farnsworth Group is seeking a detail-oriented Structural Designer with 5 years of experience in the Architecture/Engineering (A/E) industry, including hands‑on exposure to semiconductor facilities and Tool Install projects. In this role you will be involved in developing structural design documents, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and supporting the installation of highly specialized equipment within complex industrial environments.

What You'll Do
  • Develop structural design drawings, models, and construction documents using industry‑standard software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit).
  • Perform structural layout and detailing for semiconductor fabrication facilities, including support systems for Tool Install.
  • Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, process, and architectural teams to ensure integrated design solutions.
  • Assist in the design of equipment support structures, platforms, anchorage systems, and seismic bracing for semiconductor tools.

What You'll Need
  • Associate's degree preferred.
  • Ideally 5+ years of structural CAD/Revit design experience within the A/E industry.
  • Experience working on semiconductor or advanced manufacturing facilities.
  • Familiarity with tool install requirements, including equipment anchorage and support design.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit; experience with 3D modeling tools preferred.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk building systems software and cloud‑based collaboration.
  • Understanding of structural systems, materials (steel, concrete), and detailing practices.
  • Understanding of construction drawings/plans and can visualize structural and architectural elements in three dimensions.
  • Ability to interpret engineering calculations and apply them to design drawings.
  • Knowledgeable and productive with Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills in meetings and reports along with respect, tact, and diplomacy.
