Job summary

Kimley-Horn is seeking an experienced CAD Operator to join our Structures team in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. The role focuses on developing structural drawings using CAD and REVIT, and ensuring high-quality plans across concrete, masonry, steel, and wood elements.

The successful candidate will perform complex drafting tasks with minimal supervision and may supervise CAD staff. A strong engineering background and good communication are essential in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associates degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of relevant CAD drafting experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of Autodesk or Bentley products and REVIT.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and draft structural drawings and plans.
  • Develop technical drawings using CAD and REVIT software.
  • Quality check drawings of substantial complexity for accuracy.
  • Coordinate with team to maintain schedules and quality control.
  • Supervise and train CAD staff as needed.

Overview

Kimley-Horn is looking for an experienced CAD Operator to join our Structures team in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida (FL)!

Responsibilities
  • This individual will primarily be responsible for:
    • structural design/drafting assignments requiring advanced working knowledge of structural design/drafting standards, practices, and techniques in building structural, site structural, and heavy structural elements in concrete, masonry, steel, and wood
  • This person will develop technical drawings and plans using CAD and REVIT software
  • The person in this position will make and quality check drawings and plans of substantial complexity and may perform some multifaceted calculations
  • Requires minimal supervision to perform day to day tasks
  • Has knowledge of engineering principles and suggests design changes
  • Maintains drawing database
  • May supervise and train CAD staff
  • Coordinates work activities to maintain schedules and ensure quality control
  • Develop familiarity with Kimley-Horn's practices, procedures, and standards
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent (associates degree preferred)
  • 3+ years of relevant experience
  • Advanced knowledge and proficiency in Autodesk or Bentley products
  • Detail oriented, professional attitude, good communication, team player, self-starter
  • Strong work ethic, interpersonal communication/writing skills and desire to learn
  • Ability to work independently and with a team
