Job summary

Collins Aerospace, a division of RTX, is seeking a talented engineer to support the MAU team in modifying and upgrading in-service aircraft interiors. You will coordinate with engineering, certification, and program management to ensure compliance and timely delivery of seating, galleys, and cabin components.

Ideal candidates have a STEM degree with 2+ years of relevant experience, experience with cross-functional teams, and knowledge of FAA regulations.

Qualifications

  • Typically requires a STEM degree with 2+ years of relevant experience or an advanced degree; FAA requires a bachelor’s in mechanical, aeronautical, civil, chemical, textile or related engineering.
  • U.S. citizenship is required for access to information under this program/contract.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams.

The modification and upgrade (MAU) team is a division of Collins Aerospace responsible for incorporating changes to in-service aircraft interiors, including commercial seating, cabin attendant seating, galleys, etc. In doing so, we extend the life of Collins products on airplanes and improve airline and passenger satisfaction.

What You Will Do:
  • Provide technical knowledge and coordinate with a cross-function team of engineering, certification, program management in a fast-paced, customer focused environment.
  • Conduct / witness testing, analysis, and design reviews to show compliance with applicable structural and occupant injury requirements (9g Static, 16 Dynamic, HIC, Mass Retention, etc.).
  • Generate and check compliance plans and documents to support TSO, PMA, and STC Approvals.
  • Participate in training to grow talent and process development.
  • Participate as a team player across the organization and further the values and vision of the organization.
Qualifications
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field. Our agreement with the FAA requires a bachelor’s degree focused in one of the following disciplines: mechanical, aeronautical civil, chemical, textile or other relevant engineering.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
  • Previous experience working with cross-functional teams.
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Working knowledge of FAA, EASA rules and regulations, policy memos, guidance materials, standards, etc. related to aircraft seat certification with emphasis on aircraft interiors requirements.
  • Experience of TSO/PMA/STC/TC qualification and certification processes. Ideally, as an ODA unit member.
  • Prior working experience in the aerospace industry, specifically with aircraft interiors.
  • Prior experience reviewing and approving drawings and reports.
  • Familiarity with testing and substantiation for 9g Static, 16g Dynamic, HIC and other structural and occupant injury requirements.
  • Working knowledge of certification under 14 CFR Part 21 and Part 25.
  • Clear communication and technical skills.

This position is eligible for relocation.

The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.

RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
