Stantec in Sacramento seeks a Structural CAD/BIM Designer to support water, wastewater, and infrastructure projects. You will develop BIM models and construction documents under engineers and senior designers, following Digital Delivery and BIM standards.

Responsibilities include coordinating across disciplines, applying AF workflows, and mentoring junior staff. Requires a degree or diploma and 4+ years of structural CAD/BIM experience with Revit/AutoCAD.

The Structural CAD/BIM Designer supports the delivery of water, wastewater, and infrastructure projects through the development of structural BIM models, construction documents, and digital design deliverables. Working under the direction of structural engineers and senior designers, this role contributes to project delivery from concept through construction while applying Stantec Digital Delivery and BIM standards.

Key Responsibilities- Develop structural BIM models and construction drawings using Revit, Inventor, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and Autodesk Forma (AFC).

• Prepare plans, sections, elevations, details, schedules, and quantity takeoffs for reinforced concrete, masonry, and structural steel facilities.

• Support project delivery from preliminary design through Issued for construction (IFC) documents, including revisions, coordination, and document production.

• Coordinate structural models and drawings with civil, process, mechanical, electrical, and architectural disciplines.

• Apply Digital Execution Plans (DxP), CAD/BIM standards, and AF workflows to project deliverables.

• Participate in model reviews, clash detection, constructability reviews, and multidisciplinary coordination meetings.

• Provide technical support and mentoring to junior CAD/BIM staff.

• Assist with the development and maintenance of structural drafting standards, BIM content, and standard details.

• Associate degree, technical diploma/certificate, or equivalent combination of education and experience in drafting, BIM, engineering technology, or related field.

• Minimum 4 years of structural CAD/BIM design experience; water/wastewater or industrial infrastructure experience preferred.

• Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD for structural modeling and construction documentation.

• Working knowledge of Navisworks, AF, and BIM coordination workflows.

• Proficient with Microsoft (MS) Office Suite, Bluebeam Revu and Adobe Acrobat Pro.

• Understanding of reinforced concrete, masonry, and structural steel detailing practices.

• . Fundamental understanding of structural engineering as it applies to developing structural BIM models and detailed drawing sets. Ability to develop structural BIM models and detailed drawing sets based on personal experience, not reliant solely on engineer markups.

• Ability to interpret engineering sketches, calculations, markups, and design criteria.

• Strong communication, organization, and multidisciplinary coordination skills.

• Autodesk certification or equivalent BIM certification preferred.

• Ability to work efficiently and successfully with in-person and virtual teams.

Typical Projects Water and wastewater treatment facilities, pump stations, reservoirs, valve vaults, wet wells, retaining walls, industrial process facilities and other municipal and industrial infrastructure projects.

Pay Range:

Locations in CO, HI, IL, MD & Various CA, CT, NJ, VA Areas-$87,600.00 - $126,900.00 Annually

Locations in WA, DC & Various CA, MA, VA Areas-$93,900.00 - $136,200.00 Annually

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
