Civil Design, Inc. (CDI) is seeking a Structural Building Engineer – Project Manager to lead structural design and project delivery for building projects. You will sign/seal calculations as Engineer of Record and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet safety, budget, and schedule goals.

This role requires a Master’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering, PE license (IL), and 8+ years of building design experience. Based in Collinsville, IL, Effingham IL, Jefferson City, MO, or St.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering with PE licensure preferred.
• 8+ years of building design experience.
• Registered PE and IL licensure.
• Experience leading structural projects and signing/sealing documents.

Responsibilities

• Oversee structural projects by defining scope and budgets, directing design, and coordinating with staff and the design team.
• Serve as Engineer of Record, signing/sealing calculations and construction documents as required.
• Perform structural analysis and design for building structures.
• Serve as primary contact with clients, contractors, and local officials.
• Demonstrate flexibility to work on a wide variety of project types.
• Assist in preparing engineering project proposals.
• Collaborate with CDI Leadership and team to deliver projects on schedule and budget.
• Ensure compliance with CDI safety procedures.

We operate in three states serving our six service lines - Infrastructure + Analytics, Site, Structures, Survey, Transportation, and Water Resources. The Structural Building Project Manager will be an integral part of our Structures/Building Group, leading team members who design various building structure types, and supporting our site development groups with their structural design needs. Key Responsibilities:

• Managing structural engineering projects by creating scope and budgets, directing the design, and coordinating work with other staff and design team members.
• Being responsible as the Engineer of Record for project success, signing/sealing calculations and construction documents as required.
• Perform structural analysis and design for building structures
• Serving as a key point of contact with clients, contractors, and local officials.
• Displaying an eagerness to work on a wide variety of project types.
• Assisting in the preparation of engineering project proposals.
• Working collaboratively with the CDI Operations Leader, Project Development Leader, Project Engineers, and other team members to deliver projects on schedule and budget.
• Ensuring compliance with CDI’s safety procedures.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Being able to lead a project that includes collaboration with the team as well as managing tasks and being responsive to client needs.
• Proficient with AutoCAD and Revit
• Project Management experience with structural building projects
• Positive attitude
• Ability to be self-directed with focus on quality while working within a team.
• Highly proficient with structural analysis and design software.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment while possessing strong interpersonal and both oral and written communication skills.
• Strong knowledge of construction materials (Steel, Cast-in-Place Concrete, Precast Prestressed Concrete), construction methods, structural inspections, and construction document preparation.

Requirements

Education and Experience

• Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (a plus but not required).
• Registered PE.
• IL Structural Engineer licensure.
• 8 + years plus of building design experience.

This role can be based out of the Collinsville, IL, Effingham IL, Jefferson City, MO, or St. Louis, MO. The travel expected is up to 10%.

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $120,000-$150,000/year. Compensation will vary based upon relevant experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors.
