Job summary

A leading engineering firm is seeking a Structural Bridge Engineer to join its Gulf Region team. Qualifications

Responsibilities

Your Opportunity

The Stantec’s Transportation group is seeking a Structural Bridge Engineer to join our Gulf Region. This role may be based in Baton Rouge, LA, New Orleans, LA, Jackson, MS, or Nashville, TN.

We seek a team player who desires a highly collaborative work environment, has excellent client and communication skills, and strong design capabilities. We require expertise with Transportation structures, including bridges, transportation‑related structures, and other structural elements.

At Stantec, a Structural Bridge Engineer will evaluate, select, specify, and engineer systems or products for a project, performing a variety of tasks such as developing construction plans, specifications, cost estimates, and engineering reports and studies for infrastructure projects, including bridges, transportation‑related structures, and other structural elements.

Roles involve design, analysis, load rating, inspection, and rehabilitation/repair. Opportunity to work across North America on bridge assignments.

Key Projects

The Stantec bridge group in Louisiana has worked on complex bridge design projects for LADOTD and MDOT, including an urban corridor with trapezoidal girders in Lafayette, a curved steel‑plate girder interchange in Gulfport, a navigational channel crossing in Lake Charles, and a design‑build delivery of an airport interchange in Kenner.

Qualifications
  • Technical proficiency in bridge design, understanding of various design methods, and thorough knowledge of codes, legal and design requirements in relevant jurisdictions.
  • Proficiency in Microstation, OpenBridge, AASHTOWare BrR, LEAP, and other relevant design software.
  • Problem solving using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation.
  • Initiative on tasks and coordination with team members.
  • Working knowledge of codes and design requirements in relevant jurisdictions and developing jurisdictional experience and contacts.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to check others’ work for accuracy and completeness, manage time to meet project budget and schedule.
  • Ability to participate and collaborate in project team settings, engage in creative and critical thought, and effectively communicate ideas, design issues, and solutions.
  • Ability to create and interpret sketches, drawings, and similar material.
  • Position will work in both an office and field setting.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. Master’s degree is a plus.
  • 6+ years of experience working with LADOTD, MDOT, and/or TDOT.
  • P.E. license in Louisiana, Mississippi, and/or Tennessee.
  • Possess or be able to obtain Certified Bridge Inspector status.

Pay Transparency

In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part‑time roles will be pro‑rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.

Benefits Summary

Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law. The benefits information listed above may not apply to union positions because benefits for such positions are governed by applicable collective bargaining agreements.
