LJB Inc. in Charlotte, NC is seeking an experienced Structural Bridge Engineer – Project Manager to lead complex bridge projects within the Transportation Practice.

This role focuses on client liaison, project scope and profitability, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, and mentoring staff while advancing infrastructure initiatives that enhance safety and mobility.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field.
  • PE license.
  • At least 10 years of experience in consulting or engineering.
  • Experience working with DOTs.
  • MS degree in a relevant discipline (preferred).
  • PMP certification (a plus).
  • Project team leadership experience.
  • Project and client management experience.
  • MicroStation, OpenRoads, AutoCAD and Civil-3D software experience.

Responsibilities

  • Manage scope, fees, and profitability of projects and portfolios.
  • Serve as point of contact with clients as project manager.
  • Assist in new sales with clients for managed projects.
  • Coordinate internal transportation disciplines with sub-consultants and clients.
  • Lead multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Understand transportation discipline requirements for bridge design.
  • Support Deputy Operations Manager in PM best practices.
  • On large projects, may participate in design activities.
  • Provide performance feedback to Operations Management and plan staffing.

We are currently seeking an experiencedStructural Bridge Engineer – Project Manager to support and grow our Transportation Practice in our Charlotte, North Carolinaoffice.

Salary range:$95,000 – 185,000 based upon experience, certifications, and regional market standards.

BRIDGE ENGINEERING PROJECT MANAGER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Responsible for management, scope, fees, and the profitability of individual projects and project portfolio.
  • Point person and firm’s contact with clients while functioning as project manager.
  • Assists in new sales with clients for which they are managing projects.
  • Guides and coordinates internal LJB transportation disciplines with sub-consultants and clients.
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
  • Possesses an understanding of all transportation disciplines and requirements as related to bridge design projects.
  • Responsible for assisting Deputy Operations Manager in maintaining PM best practices.
  • On larger projects, may or may not be involved directly in the design.
  • Apprise Operations Management of employee performance on projects.
  • Provide information to Deputy Operations Manager on future projects so they can manage staffing.
  • Assist in informal development of other employees.
  • Other duties as assigned.
BRIDGE ENGINEERING PROJECT MANAGER ESSENTIAL CREDENTIALS:
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field.
  • P.E. license
  • At least 10 years of experience in consulting or engineering.
  • Experience working with DOTs.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • M.S. degree in a relevant discipline is preferred.
  • Certified as a Project Management Professional (PMP) a plus.
  • Project team leadership experience.
  • Project and client management experience.
  • MicroStation, OpenRoads, AutoCAD, and Civil-3D software experience.
Core Skills:
  • Strong presentation and interpersonal communications skills.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
