Apex Engineering Group is seeking a Structural Bridge Engineer to join our Minnetonka team. The role focuses on delivering bridge and structural project designs from preliminary through construction stages, working in a collaborative multi-disciplinary environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (civil, structural), with 2+ years of bridge engineering experience.
• Ability to become licensed to practice structural engineering for bridges within two years of hire is preferred.
• Experience with transportation projects and public agencies in Minnesota/North Dakota is preferred.
• Experience with in-service bridge inspection would be a bonus.
• Proficient with Microsoft Windows/Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be detail oriented, self-motivated with strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
• A valid driver’s license is required or the ability to obtain one.

Job description

Office Location: Minnetonka, MN Position Description: The location of the position is flexible and can be performed from any of our Apex offices, but the preferred location is our Minnetonka office. Primary responsibilities include working as a key project team member on bridge and structural project from the preliminary phase through design and construction. A Structural-Bridge Engineer shall be capable of independently and collaboratively contributing to the design and development of structural project plans and specifications, while working with other team members. This person will report to Apex's Lead Structural Bridge Engineer. The candidate will be expected to attend in person, key client, and project related meetings.

Essential Tasks and Duties

• Independently perform bridge engineering related calculations, analysis, and design tasks.
• Independently write technical specifications, reports, and other correspondence to a variety of audiences.
• Independently assemble plans for different agencies, as required to meet standards.
• Perform independent checking of the design work of other team members.
• Efficiently work with technicians to assemble complete and accurate engineering plans.
• Work efficiently to meet deadlines and complete projects within a given amount of time.
• Employ a variety of design standards related to the bridge industry.
• Assist with technical proposals for project pursuits with project managers and market leaders.
• Effective communication skills will be required in settings such as project meetings, informational meetings, construction notifications, etc.
• This position will require the initiative to think independently and make rational judgment calls.
• Understand and follow company employee handbook and mandated safety policies.
• Perform responsibilities in a conscientious, legal, and ethical manner with a strong attention to detail.
• Must be able to work independently and collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team environment.
• Participate in professional organizations and community leadership programs, as developed with supervisor.
• Travel and out of town stays may be required; may work overtime especially during deadlines for submittals.
• Other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to operate a computer under normal ergonomic office conditions.
• Required to regularly work in an outdoors environment.
• Required to lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds.
• May require prolonged periods of standing and walking to perform some of the essential tasks and duties.
• Must be able to work required hours in the office or offsite.

Hourly Base Pay Range

$32 - $40 /hr. (Actual base pay is dependent on several factors, including experience, education, licensure, job location, and internal equity.)
