Full Job Description

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performing structural analysis and design for transportation structures such as bridges, retaining walls, box culverts, and pipes.
  • Preparing engineering calculations and developing design drawings.
  • Conducting fieldwork, including site visits and bridge inspections (based on NBIS), building inspections, and preparing inspection reports.
  • Conducting load ratings for bridges and culverts.
  • Reviewing drawings and reports to develop design options, repair recommendations, and cost estimates.
  • Confirming work complies with AASHTO, MDOT SHA, and project-specific standards and requirements.

CORE REQUIREMENTS:

  • A bachelor's degree in civil engineering with a focus on structural engineering.
  • 4-7 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in steel and concrete design.
  • A Maryland EIT.
  • Proficiency in using MicroStation and AutoCAD for bridge projects.
  • Familiarity with AASHTO LRFD code requirements.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • A Maryland PE.
  • A master's degree in civil engineering with a focus in structural engineering.
