Job summary

Volkert Inc. is seeking an experienced Structural Bridge Engineer to support the Southeast Region in Miami, Tampa, Orlando, or Chipley, FL. A B.S. in Civil/Structural Engineering and 5–10 years of bridge design experience are required.

You will design and analyze highway bridges and retaining walls, prepare drawings in Open Bridge, MicroStation and AutoCAD, and coordinate with roadway and drainage teams. PE and FDOT experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or equivalent
• 5–10 years of engineering experience in bridge design
• Recent experience in steel and/or concrete bridge design
• PE licensed is required
• FDOT experience is required
• Familiarity with Open Bridge, Leap Bridge, CSI Bridge, AASHTO BrR, or other bridge analysis software
• Experience with Open Bridge, MicroStation and AutoCAD drawings
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and comply with safety policies
• Valid driver's license and satisfactory MVR

Job description

We are currently searching for an experienced Structural Bridge Engineer to support our Southeast Region located in Miami, Tampa, Orlando, or Chipley, FL.

To be considered for this position, applicants must have, at minimum, a Bachelor's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.

What you'll be doing:

• Perform assignments requiring knowledge and application of structural engineering principles
• Projects may include design and repair of highway bridges and retaining walls, bridge load ratings, review of working drawings and cost estimating
• Analyze structures using various structural engineering software programs
• Prepare or check structural calculations and details of structural elements for various materials, predominantly steel and concrete
• Prepare structural drawings in Open Bridge, MicroStation and AutoCAD
• Coordinate with other disciplines such as roadway and drainage to perform checks of documents for conformance to structural drawings
• Work collaboratively as part of our Southeast Region Structures Team

What you need to have:

• B.S. in Civil Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience
• 5 - 10 years of engineering experience in bridge design
• Recent experience in steel and/or concrete bridge design
• PE required
• FDOT experience required
• Familiarity with bridge design and analysis software such as Open Bridge and/or Leap Bridge, CSI Bridge, AASHTO BrR, other bridge analysis software
• Experience with preparing drawings in Open Bridge, Microstation, and/or AutoCAD
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines
• Valid driver's license and a satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR)
