Qualifications

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering and 3+ years related experience.

  • Extensive understanding of FEM modeling techniques and verification methods.
  • Experience with development and qualification testing and knowledge of aerospace structures.

Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight! This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single‑configuration, heavy‑lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low‑Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human‑capable. As part of a small, hardworking team of experts, you will be responsible for the analysis of primary and secondary structures for New Glenn Advanced Upper Stage. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention toward safe and repeatable spaceflight. We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, inventiveness, and dedication to quality to build the road to space. Passion for our mission and vision is required.

Responsibilities
  • Detailed hand Calc and FE analysis of primary and secondary aerospace structures.
  • Documentation of stress analysis to support release of engineering drawings / documents.
  • Making predictions, implementing test campaigns, and creating reports in support of hardware qualifications.
  • Build system and detail level models supporting structural design.
  • Supporting other teams and team members with inputs for configuration development and trade studies.
  • Mentoring and analysis checks for designers and junior structural analysts in stress/stability/fracture analysis and standard processes.
  • Improving enterprise analysis capabilities such as crafting process automation tools for model creation, optimization, strength checks, and analysis report generation.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering and 3+ years related experience
  • Demonstrated proficiency with one or more of the following analysis codes, particularly with reading and manipulating input files: Nastran, Optistruct, Ansys, Abaqus.
  • High proficiency with FEA software such as FEMAP, Abaqus CAE or Hypermesh.
  • Extensive understanding of FEM modeling techniques (boundary conditions, bolted connections, contact, verification methods, etc.).
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct structural analysis using hand‑calculation and finite element techniques, using any industry standard software: Ansys, Nastran, Optistruct, LS Dyna, Hypermesh, Hypersizer.
  • Experience with development and/or qualification testing (test requirements, setup/configuration, test predictions, test conduct/monitoring, etc.).
  • Knowledge of aerospace and/or launch vehicle structural requirements.
  • Experience with Fatigue and Fracture Analysis.
  • Ability to relocate to WA, FL, or CO locations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience on launch vehicles, aircraft, or similar in one or more of the following areas: Optimization for minimal‑mass structure, Analysis of composite structures and structural adhesive bonds, Analysis of metallic structure, fracture and fatigue, testing and qualification methods.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages (Matlab, Python, VBA, Fortran, etc).
  • Experience or expertise with fabrication of riveted sheet metal or machined components.
  • Experience with analyzing / dispositioning non‑conformances.
  • Experience developing materials allowable.
Base Pay Range

CO applicants is $110,938.00 - $155,312.85 WA applicants is $121,023.00 - $169,432.20 Other site ranges may differ

Background Check Required for all positions: Blue’s Standard Background Check. Required for Certain Job Profiles: Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) background check if at any time the role requires one to be on a military installation.

Required for Certain Job Profiles: Drivers who operate Commercial Motor Vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW), Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) or combination of power unit and trailer that meets or exceeds 10,001 lbs. and/or transports placardable amounts of hazardous materials by ground in any vehicle on a public road while in commerce, may be subject to additional Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations including: Driver Qualification Files, Medical Certification (obtained before onboarding), Road Test, Hours of Service, Drug and Alcohol Testing, vehicle inspection requirements, CDL requirements (if applicable) and hazardous materials transportation/shipping training.

Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre‑employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical.
