Job summary

ELM seeks a Pre-Orchestra Strings Specialist teaching artist to guide beginner violin students and contribute to curriculum development with ELM music faculty. You will help uphold the program’s philosophy and foster holistic development, community, and family engagement.

You will lead beginner violin classes, coordinate with other Teaching Artists, and participate in concerts and rehearsals to ensure high-quality ensemble experiences for students.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching violin to beginner students (ages 8-10).
• Ability to collaborate on curriculum and pedagogy with music faculty.
• Strong emphasis on fundamentals, playing health, and long-term growth.

Responsibilities

• Lead beginner violin classes for ages 8–10 with 1–2 Teaching Artists assisting.
• Lead weekly meetings for beginner-level String Teaching Artists.
• Participate in all formal ELM concerts (minimum 2 per year) and dress rehearsals; attend other concerts as requested.
• Collaborate with ELM Ensemble Conductors when appropriate.
