Job summary

Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation in Appleton, Wisconsin, is seeking a Stress Analyst Engineer II to perform structural analysis for new and derivative interior installations, including cabinetry, seating and systems.

You will review models and drawings, develop load calculations and FEMs, write reports, and collaborate with Structural Engineering to meet certification and manufacturing schedules. Proficiency in FEMAP, Nastran, AutoCAD, and CATIA V5 is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field.
• At least 18 months of related engineering experience.
• Experience with aerospace interior stress analysis is a plus.
• Advanced degrees may be credited per policy.

Responsibilities

• Perform stress analysis and related activities for interior furnishings and amenities.
• Review engineering models and drawings; prepare load calculations and FEMs; write stress reports.
• Collaborate with Structural Engineering group and approvals for certifications.
• Analyze airframe modifications for interior installation requirements.
• Conduct decompression and floor loading analyses at aircraft level.
• Utilize FEMAP with Nastran under supervision to meet schedules.

Visit

Responsibilities include performing stress analysis and related activities for new and derivative designs of interior furnishings and amenities as part of outfitting new aircraft. This includes review of engineering models and drawings, preparing load calculations, finite element models, and writing stress reports in collaboration with the Structural Engineering group and Structural AR's providing approvals. Example designs include custom cabinetry such as galleys, lavatories, closets, and other storage compartments, interior peripheries, water/waste systems, entertainment equipment installations, and seating installations. Analysis of airframe modifications to meet the requirements of interior installation is also involved. Additional responsibilities include aircraft level analysis such as decompression and floor loading analysis. Analysis is done utilizing Classical hand analysis and Finite Element Modeling using FEMAP with Nastran.

Candidates should have a sufficient knowledge of AutoCAD and CATIA V5 CAD tools to adequately review Engineering designs. FEA experience with FEMAP preferred. Assignments are executed under the direction of the Engineering Lead or Group Head to meet Engineering, Certification and manufacturing schedules. Analysis methods and design standards to be employed are consistent with company standards and accepted methods. Additional responsibilities are outlined in the job description and as assigned.

Education And Experience Requirements

Bachelor's Degree Engineering or a related curriculum required or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job. 18 months related Engineering experience. Experience credit will be considered for related advance degrees limited to 2 years for Master's and 4 years for PhD in field applicable to the job position.

Position Purpose

Performs engineering work related to the investigation and the solution of technical problems associated with research, design, development, service and manufacture of Gulfstream aircraft.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:Essential Functions:

• Solves typical engineering problems within assigned discipline .
• Provides technical assistance to engineering staff and contributes to completion of project milestones .
• Responsible for a complex engineering assignment, or a full project of lesser complexity .
• Follows established schedules while developing plans for engineering assignments .
• Obtains appropriate level of supervisor approvals for work accuracy and adequacy .
• Proficiently applies company/organization policies and procedures .

• Actively works to improve daily processes, and ensures all work meets customer requirements .
• Maintains a current and up-to-date knowledge of developments and application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in assigned field of expertise .

• Applies knowledge to provide solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity, using a combination of judgment with defined practices and procedures.
• Failure to achieve results, or erroneous decisions or recommendations, may cause delays in program schedules and/or allocation of additional resources.
• Ability to convey technical concepts in both written and verbal formats.
• Contacts are primarily within the organization, with occasional customer contacts on routine issues.
• Works under general supervision for routine tasks of minor complexity.
• With supervision/mentorship, can coordinate the activities for lower level engineering staff.
