The Town of Carrboro, NC is seeking a capable street maintenance lead to supervise and participate in a crew performing maintenance and construction on streets, curbs, gutters, and related facilities. You will read blueprints, operate grader/backhoe/roller, and ensure crew safety and productivity.
Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, NC CDL Class B or ability to obtain within six months, and willingness to be on call. Regular supervision by the Street Superintendent applies.
Performs intermediate skilled work leading and participating in the work of a street maintenance and construction crew; does related work as required. Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Street Superintendent. Supervision is exercised over crew members.
This is very heavy work requiring exertion in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects; work requires climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and grasping; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, use of measuring devices, assembly or fabrication of parts at or within arm's length, operation of machines, and operation of motor vehicles or equipment; the worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, noise, vibration, hazards, atmospheric conditions, oils, and wearing a respirator.
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and extensive experience in skilled and semiskilled maintenance or construction work.
Possession of a NC CDL Class B License or ability to obtain one within six (6) months.
Must be on call when required.
