Description

Job Purpose:

The Lighting Technician B is an intermediate-level lighting construction and maintenance professional responsible for safely performing assigned lighting construction and maintenance activities while developing the technical skills and judgment necessary to work with increasing independence. The Lighting Technician B works under the direction of higher-level technicians on more complex activities and may provide direction and assistance to lower-level technicians on smaller assignments.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This role has no direct reports.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform lighting construction, installation, maintenance, repair, inspection, and related field activities in accordance with established procedures and work practices.
  • Safely assist higher-level technicians with lighting construction and maintenance activities.
  • Perform assigned lighting work with increasing independence and decreasing levels of direct supervision.
  • Lead small lighting construction or maintenance activities with low to moderate levels of complexity.
  • Apply established procedures and technical knowledge to safely complete assigned work.
  • Develop and demonstrate increasing proficiency in lighting systems, equipment, tools, and construction and maintenance processes.
  • Identify basic equipment or system issues and communicate technical concerns to higher-level technicians or supervision when additional support is required.
  • Follow work plans, technical instructions, prints, and other applicable documentation.
  • Maintain quality and productivity standards while completing assigned work safely and efficiently.
  • Safely access elevated work areas and perform work at various heights.
  • Frequently climb or use authorized equipment to reach required work locations.
  • Does all other related work as required to complete the job.
  • Must be able to work outside, frequently in inclement weather conditions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. This position is performed in outside weather conditions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle and feel; and reach with hands and arms.

Travel Requirements:

Required education and experience:

  • Minimum 1 year of recent lighting construction and/or maintenance activities and or any related field experience.
  • CDL License or CDL Permit and acceptable driving record
  • Able to read and communicate effectively in English.
  • Able to travel long distances at short notice, when required.
  • Able to work for extended periods in various locations, when required.
  • Able to lift more than 50 lbs.
  • Able to properly inspect rubber goods and PPE.
  • Willing to work overtime when requested.
  • Ability to frequently climb and/or use authorized equipment to access elevated work areas.
  • Ability to safely perform work within applicable Minimum Approach Distance requirements for voltages greater than 600 volts, consistent with required training, qualification, authorization, and procedures.
