Job summary

Coventry City Council's Streetpride Service is seeking an operative to support cleaning streets, parks and open spaces in a busy city environment. You will work with a team to follow Safe Systems of Work and help maintain a clean, safe community.

Role requires physical fitness, reliability, and a flexible approach to shifts. A Category B driving licence and health and safety awareness are essential; Coventry values inclusivity and supports diverse staff.

Qualifications

• Be reliable and committed to the role.
• Physically fit and able to walk for long periods in all weather.
• Customer-focused with the ability to remain calm when assisting the public.
• Flexible to work across shifts and carry out labouring tasks.
• Knowledge of health and safety in the workplace (PPE-focused).
• Category B driving licence is required.

Responsibilities

• Sweep streets and empty bins as part of routine cleansing.
• Litter-pick grassed areas and maintain parks/open spaces.
• Remove dead animals and unwanted waste (e.g., dog fouling).
• Operate hand and power tools for grounds maintenance tasks.
