Job summary

PetSmart is seeking a Category Manager for Transportation Sourcing at our Phoenix Home Office. You will develop and execute category strategies, lead RFI/RFP processes, and negotiate agreements with suppliers to optimize total cost and category productivity.

You will collaborate with the Transportation team, maintain strong supplier relations, and deliver savings while ensuring compliance with company policy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree and at least 5 years’ experience in strategic sourcing or procurement in a Retail environment.
• Strong project management skills, including stakeholder timelines and meeting management.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic Environment.
• Establish a strong network to foster collaboration with suppliers, key stakeholders and team members.
• Ability to analyze complex processes and lead workgroups to help resolve problem areas.
• Be able to prioritize workload, meet tight deadlines, be adaptable, detail-oriented, organized and motivated.
• Ability to effectively communicate with senior management levels (VP, SVP, etc.).
• Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills.
• Strong contract and commercial negotiation skills.
• Results-focused with a strong work ethic.
• Microsoft Office Suite; advanced Excel skills
• Experience with Ariba, Jaggaer (or similar e-Sourcing platform) and ChatGPT

Responsibilities

• Develops and leads the RFI/RFP process for transportation services. Analyzes bids for total cost and opportunities for value.
• Evaluates carriers and services based on selection criteria.
• Maintains communications throughout the sourcing process with internal and external stakeholders.
• Executes commercial and contractual negotiations to reach best total cost and mitigate currency fluctuations.
• Creates a category strategy with internal customers for a unified approach.
• Reports status of critical external relationships to leadership.
• Earns stakeholder trust to drive business alignment.
• Participates in professional development and stays updated with industry practices.
• Demonstrates integrity and ethics in all actions.
• Leads procurement workstreams or training sessions when needed.
