Job summary

Petco is seeking a Staff Accountant in San Antonio, TX to participate in month-end close, monitor the general ledger, and support accounting operations. You will partner with field associates and corporate staff to resolve variances, prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and cost analyses, while safeguarding confidential data.

Ideal candidates hold a 4-year degree in Accounting/Finance and 3–5 years of relevant experience, with strong Excel skills and working knowledge of PeopleSoft.

Qualifications

• 4-year degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent.
• Minimum 3–5 years of junior or staff accountant experience.
• Strong communication and English skills.
• Solid understanding of accounting principles (GAAP).

Responsibilities

• Close month-end and prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and schedules.
• Analyze data, research variances, and reconcile accounts.
• Communicate with field partners and management to resolve issues.
• Maintain SOX controls and ensure data integrity.
