Harrington Hoists, Inc. is seeking a Strategic Sourcing Specialist in Manheim, PA to build and maintain relationships with key suppliers, negotiate costs, and develop agreements that improve efficiency and profitability.

The role reports to the Supply Chain Manager within the Materials department. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least 1 year in sourcing and procurement, with strong MS Office and procurement system experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Purchasing, Engineering or related.
  • Minimum 1-year progressive challenging experience, in sourcing and procurement.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Procurement expertise: High level required to develop, implement, and publish category strategies that result in an aligned supply base to meet the needs of the business on a global basis.
  • Quantitative and analytical: Highly numerate and possess the ability to perform statistical quote analysis, to provide supply support for projects and new business opportunities.

  • Create, maintain, monitor, provide analysis and communicate appropriately an identified category which includes a sourcing strategy.
  • Support suppliers' capabilities to improve quality, delivery, reduce cost of assigned commodity and facilitate successful supplier innovation initiatives.
  • Identify new opportunities to improve value and performance which deliver demonstrable benefits for the business.
  • Help identify areas of risk for the business, develop and implement contingency planning processes.

BASIC FUNCTION

Build and maintain relationships with important industry suppliers, negotiating cost and developing agreements that ultimately improve efficiency and profitability.

GENERAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead the strategic sourcing process of research, evaluation, and structure ensuring continual sourcing improvement for multiple complex projects.
  • Understand and have an-depth knowledge of company product, key players, and industry suppliers to be an effective expert in the sourcing process.
  • Proven track record of success in procuring, managing the supply base, and forecasting prices and availability of component markets to ensure competitive prices and continuity of supply.
  • Prepare and evaluate supplier quotations, pricing, and services to determine the most competitive solution based upon a total cost of ownership.
  • Create, maintain, monitor, provide analysis and communicate appropriately an identified category which includes a sourcing strategy (e.g., savings opportunities, supply source transition, targeted supplier performance, etc.).
  • Support suppliers' capabilities to improve quality, delivery, reduce cost of assigned commodity and facilitate successful supplier innovation initiatives.
  • Identify new opportunities to improve value and performance which deliver demonstrable benefits for the business.
  • Help identify areas of risk for the business (i.e., delivery of service, quality, performance, timeline, warranty, governance), develop and implement contingency planning processes.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Purchasing, Engineering or related.
  • Minimum 1-year progressive challenging experience, in sourcing and procurement.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Procurement expertise: High level required to develop, implement, and publish category strategies that result in an aligned supply base to meet the needs of the business on a global basis. JDE experience a plus.
  • Quantitative and analytical: Highly numerate and possess the ability to perform statistical quote analysis, to provide supply support for projects and new business opportunities.
  • Strategic and analytical thinker: Make decisions with a long-term focus in a results-oriented environment.
  • Organizational skills: Effectively prioritize assignments, manage workload, as well as manage multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-Oriented: Ability to focus extensively to produce high quality work.
  • Problem-solving skills: Proven ability to identify and resolve problems.
  • Critical thinking skills: Affinity for sourcing and resourcefulness in obtaining data and must be able to relate with abstract to make decisions in situations where complete information is not available.
  • Communication skills: Strong written and oral communication abilities to perform job duties successfully, especially negotiating with suppliers.
  • Team player: Possess the ability to work with cross functional teams and effectively in a team environment.
  • Apt for Learning: Consistently demonstrate proven ability to learn and use necessary tools.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be able to sit 6+ hours a day.
