Job summary

Ingersoll Rand seeks a Strategic Sourcing Manager for New Product Development to lead the sourcing of new products from concept through launch. You will coach a team of sourcing professionals, manage supplier selections and negotiations, and own cost models and project tracking.

The role requires strong cross-functional collaboration with engineering, operations, and finance across a global supplier base. You will drive value through risk management, dual-sourcing, and material availability

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required.
• 7+ years in sourcing, supply chain, engineering, operations, or project leadership.
• 3+ years of people leadership and cross-functional coordination.
• 3+ years coordinating with engineering/project teams and tracking milestones.
• 3+ years evaluating supplier quotations and negotiating terms.
• Advanced MS Excel experience including pivot tables/macros; ERP/MRP knowledge.

Responsibilities

As a Sourcing Leader within the Compression Systems & Services Americas Sourcing Organization, you’ll lead the people and supplier decisions that bring new products, redesigns, and Innovate to Value (i2V) initiatives from concept through launch. Your greatest impact starts with the team. You’ll develop an established group of sourcing professionals, giving them the coaching, tools, and confidence to make sound decisions and take ownership of their work. Through clear priorities, thoughtful delegation, and meaningful accountability, you’ll strengthen the team’s capabilities while removing barriers and keeping sourcing commitments aligned with project milestones. You’ll also lead selected projects yourself, combining people leadership with hands‑on sourcing execution.
Working closely with engineering, project and product management, operations, quality, finance, commodity teams, and suppliers, you’ll guide direct‑material sourcing across an industrial compressor portfolio. The work spans components such as motors, drives, electronic controls, and heavy castings within a global supply base. You’ll set sourcing direction, develop supplier strategies, lead complex negotiations, and advance dual‑sourcing and risk‑mitigation efforts suited to a manufacturing environment with a broad product mix and lower production volumes. You’ll also help define how the team measures success: making progress visible, identifying schedule risks early, and connecting sourcing decisions to cost savings, product margins, quality, and supply assurance. As legacy products evolve and new platforms move toward production, your leadership will help turn sourcing strategy into measurable results.

• Sourcing Strategy and Project Leadership: Lead sourcing strategy for NPD and I2V initiatives from early concept through launch and stabilization. Align sourcing resources and deliverables with business objectives, project gates, commodity strategies, supplier rationalization, plant needs, localization objectives, and regional priorities.
• People Leadership and Team Development: Lead, coach, and develop sourcing professionals supporting NPD, value engineering, localization, supplier transitions, and productivity projects. Set goals, prioritize assignments, balance workloads, conduct performance discussions, and support career development and succession planning. Build capability through best practices, collaboration, barrier removal, and a culture of ownership and accountability.
• Supplier Selection and Commercial Management: Lead supplier selection, sourcing decisions, RFPs, RFQs, and negotiations, balancing cost, quality, delivery, lead time, capacity, risk, and long‑term supplier capability. Oversee pricing, payment terms, tooling, inventory programs, capacity commitments, and supplier development needs.
• Cost Management and Value Improvement: Own sourcing cost models, business case inputs, and project cost tracking for legacy‑to‑new product comparisons, productivity targets, and launch readiness. Drive I2V and VAVE workstreams to identify cost reduction, design‑to‑value, supplier optimization, localization, and specification improvement opportunities.
• Project Governance and Performance Tracking: Establish standard work, reporting cadence, and performance measures that provide visibility to sourcing milestones, risks, savings, cost avoidance, and launch readiness. Represent Sourcing in product gate reviews, plant reviews, VAVE events, MMR events, and leadership operating reviews, ensuring actions are documented, assigned, and completed.
• Risk Resolution and Supplier Recovery: Identify gaps to project goals and lead cross‑functional countermeasures addressing cost, supplier readiness, part qualification, capacity, delivery, and quality. Manage supplier escalations and recovery plans when issues threaten launches, customer commitments, warranty performance, or project timelines.
• Cross‑Functional Partnerships and Continuous Improvement: Build strong relationships with engineering, product management, operations, quality, finance, commodity leaders, plant teams, and suppliers to align priorities, resolve conflict, and maximize value. Facilitate continuous improvement and ideation sessions to build the project pipeline and strengthen sourcing execution.
• Special Projects and Additional Responsibilities: Lead or participate in special projects and perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations, or a related field.
• 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in sourcing, supply chain, engineering, operations, or project leadership, including direct‑material sourcing and support for NPD, VAVE, I2V, or complex cross‑functional programs.
• 3+ years of people leadership, supervisory, or team‑lead experience, including assigning work, setting priorities, coaching employees, monitoring performance, and supporting employee development.
• 3+ years of experience coordinating sourcing deliverables with engineering and project management teams through structured development processes, including tracking milestones, resolving barriers, and addressing schedule risks.
• 3+ years of experience evaluating supplier quotations, selecting suppliers, negotiating pricing and commercial terms, and managing supplier development or performance issues; to include progressive experience preparing business cases and cost models, tracking savings, and analyzing sourcing data to identify gaps and recommend corrective actions.
• 3+ years of advanced Microsoft Excel experience, including pivot tables and macros; experience using Word and PowerPoint to communicate business information; and general knowledge of how ERP/MRP systems support purchasing, materials planning, and manufacturing operations.

Preferences:

• Advanced degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations, or a related field.
• Sourcing experience in industrial manufacturing, particularly high‑mix, low‑volume environments involving compressors, rotating equipment, or comparable industrial products.
• Experience sourcing motors, drives, electronic controls, castings, or other heavy industrial components from global suppliers.
• Experience developing sourcing dashboards, reporting tools, or project performance measures.
• Hands‑on experience using Oracle, SAP, or another ERP platform in a global environment.
• Experience applying Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methods; Green Belt or Black Belt certification preferred.

Travel and Work Arrangements

• Minimal travel (less than 20%), primarily between the Mocksville and Davidson sites.
• Occasional supplier visits may also be needed.
