Job summary

Meta is seeking a Strategic Sourcing Manager to lead custom mechanical component sourcing for our hardware product portfolio, spanning consumer devices, wearables, and augmented and virtual reality platforms.

You will own end-to-end sourcing strategy for precision mechanical parts, assemblies, and enclosures, partnering with engineering, operations, and supply chain teams to bring next-generation hardware products to market at scale.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, supply chain management, or procurement within a consumer electronics or hardware product company.
  • 8+ years of experience sourcing custom mechanical components, including precision machined parts, injection-molded plastics, die castings, sheet metal fabrications, and mechanical assemblies.
  • Experience developing should-cost models and conducting cost analysis for custom mechanical parts and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience negotiating and executing supply agreements and long-term contracts with mechanical component suppliers.
  • Experience leading cross-functional programs involving mechanical engineering, operations, quality, and finance stakeholders to deliver hardware products at scale.

Summary:

Meta is seeking a Strategic Sourcing Manager to lead custom mechanical component sourcing for our hardware product portfolio, spanning consumer devices, wearables, and augmented and virtual reality platforms. In this role, you will own end-to-end sourcing strategy for precision mechanical parts, assemblies, and enclosures, partnering with engineering, operations, and supply chain teams to bring next-generation hardware products to market at scale.

Required Skills:
Strategic Sourcing Manager, Custom Mechanical Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and execute the sourcing strategy for custom mechanical components, including precision machined parts, injection-molded plastics, die castings, sheet metal fabrications, and mechanical assemblies across the hardware product portfolio

  2. Build and maintain should-cost models for custom mechanical parts and assemblies to set cost targets, validate supplier quotes, and support cost reduction initiatives throughout the product lifecycle

  3. Lead supplier selection, including RFI and RFQ development, technical and commercial evaluation, and final selection, in partnership with mechanical engineering and supply base engineering teams

  4. Negotiate and execute supply agreements, statements of work, and long-term contracts with custom mechanical suppliers, securing commercial terms, capacity commitments, and quality standards

  5. Drive Early Supplier Involvement programs to integrate mechanical supplier capabilities and manufacturing constraints into new product design phases, influencing design-for-manufacturability outcomes

  6. Establish and manage strategic supplier relationships through structured quarterly business reviews, tracking KPIs across cost, quality, delivery, and responsiveness, and driving continuous improvement programs

  7. Benchmark the mechanical manufacturing landscape to monitor emerging fabrication technologies, materials innovations, and supplier capabilities relevant to wearables and consumer electronics

  8. Partner cross-functionally with mechanical engineering, product management, quality, finance, and planning teams to align sourcing decisions with program milestones and commercial targets

  9. Identify and mitigate supply chain risks for custom mechanical components, developing dual-source strategies and contingency plans to protect product continuity

  10. Lead process improvement initiatives within the global sourcing and supply chain organization, leveraging data-driven analysis and AI-integrated workflows to increase sourcing efficiency and decision quality

  3. Experience managing global supplier bases across Asia-Pacific manufacturing regions for custom mechanical components

  4. Experience sourcing custom mechanical components for wearable, augmented reality, or virtual reality hardware products

  5. Experience developing AI skills (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and keeping current with emerging AI technologies

  6. Experience integrating AI tools to optimize or redesign workflows with measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)

  7. Knowledge of design-for-manufacturability principles for precision mechanical assemblies in high-volume consumer electronics production

Public Compensation:

$168,000/year to $234,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
