Job description

ADVANCE YOUR CAREER. ADVANCE THE WORLD.

At AMD, we believe technology can change lives for the better. It can heal us, entertain us, and make us more connected, productive, and understanding of the world around us. And we’re looking for talent who feel the same: people who want to leave the planet better than they found it, those who don’t shy away from humanity’s challenges but are determined to help solve them.

AMD is powering the next generation of supercomputing, high-performance computing, cloud, and AI. Whether you’re designing next-gen processors, enabling AI breakthroughs, or creating go-to-market plans, every role at AMD contributes to something bigger — technology that moves the world forward.

THE ROLE:

Drive the future of technology by leading global sourcing for board components. In this role, you’ll own commercial strategy, pricing, and supply for critical semiconductor commodities. Partner with engineering, quality, and operations to deliver innovative supply chain solutions from NPI through mass production. Build strong supplier relationships, negotiate key agreements, and implement long term strategies for cost, quality, and service. If you thrive in a fast paced, results oriented environment and want to make a measurable impact, join us and shape what’s next.

THE PERSON:

You are a sourcing manager who builds trusted partnerships across engineering, operations, finance, quality, and supplier leadership, and you use that influence to shape a multi‑year commodity strategy that secures cutting‑edge technology, competitive pricing, uncompromising quality, and resilient supply. You communicate crisply with executives—grounding recommendations in data and compelling narrative—then drive cross‑functional initiatives that proactively mitigate supply risk, diversify sources, and accelerate readiness for new programs. You proactively mitigate risk across the value chain while using a sharp analytical toolkit to identify the right problems, define actionable plans, and deliver measurable outcomes. You thrive in ambiguity and turn complexity into clarity. You thrive in AMD’s fast‑paced, results‑oriented environment, balancing urgency with rigor and accountability to deliver impact at scale. If you’re energized by high‑impact decisions, stakeholder alignment, and owning results end‑to‑end, we’d love to meet you.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead global commodity strategy for board components, aligning with product and technology roadmaps.
  • Develop and maintain strategic supplier relationships, ensuring roadmap alignment and fostering collaboration.
  • Negotiate pricing, lead‑time, and quality agreements to achieve cost competitiveness and supply assurance.
  • Drive cost‑saving initiatives through should‑cost analysis, value engineering, and long‑term agreements to deliver measurable savings.
  • Ensure supply readiness for New Product Introduction (NPI) and Mass Production (MP) programs.
  • Evaluate supplier performance through scoring metrics and conduct periodic business reviews to drive continuous improvement.
  • Onboard new suppliers and expand the Approved Vendor List (AVL) to support technology and capacity needs.
  • Proactively mitigate supply risks, addressing potential disruptions through contingency planning and multi‑sourcing strategies.
  • Gather market intelligence and identify potential partners to support future product and technology requirements.
  • Report progress on critical sourcing projects and strategic initiatives to executive leadership with clear, data‑driven insights.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or related field
  • Strong experience in strategic sourcing within semiconductor industry.
  • Category/commodity management experience for boards, systems or rack components (e.g., Integrated Circuits, Power ICs, Thermal, Interconnects, PCB)
  • Strong negotiation, contract management, and analytical skills.
  • Effective leadership, communication, and project management skills.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in engineering, business, supply chain, or related field
  • Certifications like PMP, CSCP, CPSM are a plus

This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
