Job summary

Allied Steel Buildings is seeking a Senior Sourcing Specialist to lead indirect spend strategies and manage steel and fabricated components. You will partner with engineering, operations, supply chain, and finance to drive cost savings and supplier performance.

The role demands autonomy, strong analytical skills, and experience in complex negotiations. Travel up to 15% and mentoring junior team members are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or Finance.
• CPSM, CSCP, APICS certifications or progress toward certification.
• 5–8 years of progressive sourcing/procurement experience with category ownership.
• Direct experience sourcing steel products and/or fabricated components.
• Experience with domestic/regional steel mills, service centers, fabricators.
• Experience with capital equipment sourcing or large-scale supplier agreements.
• Strong knowledge of steel markets, fabrication processes, and manufacturing supply chains.
• Advanced analytical skills: spend analysis, cost modeling, data-driven decisions.
• ERP and sourcing tools: Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, Oracle, Coupa.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute category strategies for indirect spend and steel components.
• Lead RFQ/RFP events and negotiations including bid strategy development and contract finalization.
• Drive total cost of ownership and cost-improvement plans.
• Monitor steel markets, capacity and supplier risk.
• Onboard strategic suppliers and assess capabilities.
• Lead commercial negotiations on price, lead times, terms and risk.
• Manage supplier relationships with reviews and scorecards.
• Ensure sourcing aligns with engineering and production schedules.
• Support procure-to-pay and resolve pricing/invoice discrepancies.
• Travel ~15% as needed.
