Strategic Sourcing Analyst

As a Strategic Sourcing Analyst, you will support sourcing efforts across various categories of goods and services. You will assist with RFx processes, analyze data, evaluate bids, and generate spend reports to inform procurement decisions. You’ll partner with category managers to drive cost savings, conduct market research, and contribute to process improvements that enhance overall sourcing strategy and execution.

What You’ll Do

• Data Collection: Collect technical specifications, commercial specifications, buyer info, bid item, volume, supplier management, pricing. Benchmark suppliers in RFx efforts. Partner to identify Decision Matrix criterion and provide relevant data and recommendations back to internal category management team.
• Supplier Research & Outreach: Inform current suppliers about upcoming bids. Start supplier outreach; submit a list of potentially interested new suppliers and RFx for approval; manage the sign‑off list of potential suppliers for participation and RFx; send RFx request to targeted suppliers.
• RFx Process: Support or lead RFx activity. Draft and clarify requirements with stakeholders. Define and document statement of work or goods. Create quantitative Decision Matrix. Finalize RFx documents (RFx document, Cost Breakdown document, Decision Matrix, Bid Parameters, etc.).
• Post‑bid Analysis: Collect post‑bid data, analyze, and provide recommendations. Set up demonstrations as required per evaluation needs.
• Spend Reporting: Create and generate detailed spend reports by sourcing category to be published to senior leadership.
• General Market Analysis: Provide monthly/weekly input cost market reports pertaining to specific category.
• Rebate Reconciliation/Pricing Updates: Validate and reconcile quarterly rebate amounts via SAP data.
• Competitive Benchmarking: Identify Best in Class process for analysis.

What We’re Seeking

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four‑year college or university and 2+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, required.
• Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated experience with SAP and Microsoft Office Suite, with an emphasis on Excel and Power BI.
• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey data‑driven insights clearly and effectively.
• Problem Solving: Proven analytical, decision‑making, and interpersonal skills to resolve complex sourcing challenges.
• Collaboration & Independence: Ability to thrive both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Adaptability: Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment with shifting priorities.

• Travel: Must be able to travel up to 5% of the time.

The expected pay range for this position is $55,000 - $82,500 annually. Smithfield Foods provides pay ranges that reflect its good faith estimate of the salary or hourly wage the company reasonably expects to pay for a position at the time of hire. Individual compensation will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the role, location of the position, the candidate’s qualifications and experience, internal equity, external market pay for comparable positions and budget considerations. At Smithfield Foods, base pay represents only one aspect of the comprehensive total rewards package.
