Job summary

Wallingford Public Schools is seeking CT certified candidates for the position of Business Manager. The role directs the Business Office to control the fiscal position of the school system and to implement innovative efficiency strategies.

The incumbent will lead LEAN initiatives and provide schedule‑level financial guidance to the Superintendent and Board of Education. The Business Manager will supervise budget development, forecasting, reporting, and internal controls, while working closely

Qualifications

• B.S. in Business Administration required; MBA preferred.
• CT certification endorsement 085 or eligible for CT certification.
• Experience overseeing school district finances and budgetary processes.

Responsibilities

• Leads the development of the district budget with long‑term fiscal planning.
• Supervises Business Office, Food Services, accounts payable, payroll, and insurance.
• Prepares financial reports for state and federal funding programs.
• Provides financial analysis and forecasting to inform strategic decisions.
• Develops and maintains internal controls and regulatory compliance.
• Collaborates with Superintendent and Board of Education on financial implications.
• Oversees procurement, bid development, and contract administration.
• Manages district insurance programs and reconciles accounts with Town Comptroller.
