Job summary

Washington State Ferries (WSF), a division of WSDOT, seeks a Purchasing Agent to lead procurement services supporting safe, reliable ferry operations. You will guide purchasing staff, oversee complex procurements, and ensure compliance with laws and regulations to sustain vessels, terminals, and facilities.

Qualifications

• Experience planning and completing complex procurements in accordance with laws and delegated authority.
• Knowledge of procurement principles, ethics, and public sector requirements.
• Ability to review requisitions, prepare solicitations, conduct bids, and award contracts.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex procurements and oversee staff in accordance with laws and regulations.
• Review requisitions, select methods, obtain budget approval, and issue purchase orders.
• Prepare solicitations, conduct bids, evaluate bids, and negotiate contracts.
• Research vendors, assess supplier performance, plan long-lead purchases, and visit sites.
• Resolve issues with vendors and internal staff, track assets, and manage payments.
• Support the Purchasing & Facilities Manager in improving procedures and practices.
• Uphold strategic priorities and agency values in daily work.
