Job summary

Texans Together in Houston, TX seeks a Manager, Special Projects to lead planning, coordination, and implementation of strategic initiatives that improve operations and outcomes for children and families.

Reporting to the Director, Special Projects, you will translate priorities into actionable project plans, coordinate activities across departments, drive execution, and provide guidance to the Special Projects Coordinator.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Minimum three (3) years’ experience in project management, operations, public policy, social services, government, nonprofit organizations, consulting, or related field.
• Prior supervisory, team lead, or project lead experience.
• Experience leading projects involving multiple stakeholders or departments.

Responsibilities

• Lead assigned projects and initiatives from planning through implementation and evaluation.
• Translate strategic priorities established by leadership into project plans, timelines, and actionable workstreams.
• Coordinate project activities across departments to ensure alignment, accountability, and timely completion of deliverables.
• Monitor project progress, identify barriers, and recommend solutions to keep initiatives moving forward.
• Facilitate project meetings, track action items, and ensure follow-through among stakeholders.
• Provide regular updates, recommendations, and status reports to leadership.
• Support the Director, Special Projects in advancing organizational priorities through research, analysis, and project execution.
• Gather and analyze information to identify operational challenges, opportunities, and emerging needs.
• Develop practical recommendations and implementation approaches to address organizational issues.
• Break down complex challenges into manageable action steps and project plans.
• Contribute ideas and solutions that improve operations, partnerships, and outcomes.
• Coordinate project work involving multiple departments and stakeholders with varying priorities.
• Facilitate collaboration, gather feedback, and help build alignment around project goals.
• Follow up on commitments, monitor progress, and drive accountability without direct supervisory authority.
• Represent Texans Together in meetings, workgroups, and collaborative initiatives as assigned.
• Assess project performance, identify risks and barriers, and implement strategies to maintain project success.
• Provide day-to-day direction, coaching, and support to the Special Projects Coordinator.
• Delegate project responsibilities and ensure timely completion of assigned work.
• Review work products and provide feedback to support professional growth and development.
• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
