Morpheus Talent Solutions in San Francisco is seeking a data-project leader who will own end-to-end data development initiatives, from scoping and research to staffing and delivery. You’ll coordinate between lab researchers, data experts and the internal engineering team to keep projects on track and aligned with margins.
Expect a highly autonomous role requiring strong opinion on quality, ability to influence without authority, and comfort operating in ambiguity across a hybrid/fast-moving
$180k - $250k base
Morpheus are partnered with a well-funded, seed-stage AI startup building the data and infrastructure layer for taste. Backed by top-tier VCs and already working with most of the frontier AI labs, the company is tackling one of the hardest problems left in AI: judgement. Models can now generate almost anything, but knowing what fits, what feels right and what's genuinely great is still unsolved. This team is turning that into something measurable, starting with design.
They work on two fronts: building the post-training data and RL environments that teach taste to frontier models, and creating the context and verification tools that help AI agents produce work that's more creative, more on-brand and more right.
The whole company is built on the belief that quality in subjective domains is real, measurable and worth investing in, so they hire people who care about craft. You don't need to be a designer, but you do need strong opinions about quality in something, and the ability to back them up.
In this role, you'll be the directly responsible individual for data development projects, owning them end to end: scoping, research, expert staffing, quality routing, partner delivery, scope management and margin.
You'll be the connective tissue between three groups that don't naturally talk to each other: the lab researchers who need the data, the experts producing it and the internal engineering team building the infrastructure. Your job is to make all three feel like they're working on the same thing.
