This position will be onsite 3 days a week and virtual 2 days a week.

About Our Team

The Knowledge Integration & Articulation (KIA) team delivers technologies and content to advance company-wide understanding and re-use of knowledge. This includes sub‑teams covering:

  • Controlled vocabularies & ontologies and related systems
  • Translation and multilingual content generation capabilities
  • Published content and formalized internal insights which integrate with AbbVie’s enterprise Artificial Intelligence (AI) platform and other business solutions & processes.

KIA is part of AbbVie’s Enterprise Knowledge Accelerator (EKA), the trusted knowledge partner for clients across AbbVie, with a focus on R&D and the Corporate Business & Strategy Office (CBSO). EKA drives decision making and fuels AbbVie’s AI with published and internal knowledge. The team is global, with presences at the Lake County, Illinois headquarters; Boston, Massachusetts area (US); and Ludwigshafen site (Germany). EKA leverages leading technologies and methods to provide AbbVie with industry‑best capabilities in extracting insights from published content, and as part of AbbVie’s global Information Research (IR) group shares its mission to unlock information that makes cures possible.

Your Role

As a Strategic Product Manager, you drive the success of knowledge integration solutions by bridging business goals with technical delivery.

You will coordinate key programs focused on ontologies, language solutions, and published knowledge integration, facilitating the process to develop product direction and orchestrated delivery. You will develop long‑term strategies, coordinate cross‑functional teams, and implement process improvements to enhance enterprise knowledge with our KIA team leads. Your daily focus includes facilitating collaboration, advancing strategic projects, and promoting ongoing improvement to maximize customer and business value in a fast‑paced data‑driven environment.

Closely working with our central Artificial Intelligence team (EPIC), you ensure that AbbVie’s enterprise AI frameworks are leveraged to deliver our services and that the knowledge we manage is closely integrated and consumable through chat and agentic workflows.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and communicate product vision and strategy for knowledge integration initiatives, aligning team efforts with business and customer needs to deliver business value.
  • Work with team leads to surface opportunities leveraging advanced GenAI approaches.
  • Build and prioritize product roadmaps, backlogs, and epics, translating business and technical requirements into clear tasks and acceptance criteria.
  • Coordinate the execution of ongoing software development and service projects, ensuring effective allocation of resources and timely delivery.
  • Track project progress and report outcomes, developing and utilizing KPIs to measure success and identify areas for improvement in team coordination and customer engagement.
  • Facilitate Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives) and support team alignment on product goals.
  • Build cooperative relationships with customers, partners and other stakeholders across the enterprise, serving as the key point‑of‑contact for KIA in the US.
  • Identify opportunities for expanding language and translation product reach, especially in key regions like US & LATAM, supporting onboarding and customer engagement strategies to increase ecosystem adoption.
  • Serve as the contact point for stakeholder updates, project transparency, and feedback loops.
  • Advocate for efficient knowledge sharing and continuous improvement across the teams.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree with 7 years experience OR Master's degree with 6 years’ experience OR PhD with 2 years’ experience in product management, product ownership, or project coordination in technical/data‑centric environments.
  • Experience leading Agile teams, coach others in Agile methodologies, and drive organizational change towards the product operating model.
  • Working knowledge of ontology design, FAIR principles, and data/metadata standards.
  • Basic understanding of terminology management preferred.
  • Experience working with language/translation solutions preferred, including translation management systems.
  • Excellent communication skills capable of translating complex concepts for different audiences.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Understanding of and respect for cultural differences, especially with the global nature of the team's work and the focus on the US market.
  • Deep familiarity with Agile/Scrum processes and tools (Jira, Confluence).
  • Proficiency with MS 360 tools (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, PowerPoint).
  • Experience within pharmaceutical R&D or scientific domains a plus.
