Job summary

Xcel Energy is seeking a skilled professional to negotiate long-term power purchase agreements and develop model contracts, under PP leadership. You will collaborate with legal to finalize amendments, financing and metering agreements, while driving risk mitigation and supplier performance across IPP facilities.

The role requires a strong background in energy contracts, regulatory affairs, and detailed negotiation, with a focus on compliance and cross-functional coordination.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, economics, finance, or similar, or otherwise equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in energy industry including contract or asset management and other detailed technical power generation matters, working on legislative and/or regulatory issues related to power procurement, and negotiating and administering contracts.
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Previous experience in system operations, regulatory affairs, contract law or system planning is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Negotiate long-term power purchase agreements and development of new model contracts under the guidance of PP leadership.
  • Work with legal counsel to independently negotiate associated documents including amendments, financing documents, and metering & billing agreements.
  • Maximize risk mitigation and supplier performance; provide governance for IPP facilities across operating companies.
  • Maintain contract terms and ensure counterparty compliance; develop effective solutions to contract issues.
  • Support regulatory filings and internal/external data requests, including drafting testimony and answering interrogatories.
