Job summary

Port Houston is seeking an experienced port planning professional to provide strategic and operational planning for efficient port operations. You will support long-range planning, analyze capacity, and collaborate with government agencies and partners to implement solutions that improve port functionality.

The role involves leading work through managers and consultants, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with environmental and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Planning, Architecture, Business Administration, Maritime Administration, Economics, or related major from a public or accredited institution.
  • Master’s degree in civil engineering, Transportation Planning, or related field preferred.
  • Experience (3+ years) in port planning, preferably in leadership role.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and propose solutions.
  • Proficiency in using software tools and technologies for data analysis and project management.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement long-term strategic plans for port infrastructure and operations.
  • Assess existing port infrastructure and identify capacity constraints and improvements.
  • Lead port expansion projects with feasibility studies and master planning.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to gather needs and address challenges.
  • Analyze vessel scheduling, cargo handling, and logistics to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations and safety standards.
  • Prepare reports and present findings to senior management and stakeholders.
