Job summary

Sila in California is seeking a Director of Strategic Planning to design and scale the end-to-end SIOP ecosystem across manufacturing, supply chain, sales, strategy, and finance. You will architect processes, automation, and executive reporting to drive rapid gigafactory scaling.

You will own real-time scheduling, inventory visibility, and cross-functional planning, partnering with leadership to build multi-year forecasts and drive operational transparency and speed.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in strategic planning, supply chain, or industrial operations leadership within complex manufacturing or hardware environments.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related technical field.
• Proven track record of evaluating, selecting, and implementing advanced planning technologies, custom-built software, and enterprise systems.
• Demonstrated expertise in value-chain optimization modeling, inventory theory, and real-time scheduling architectures.
• Strong executive presence with cross-functional consensus and high-performing team leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead and modernize the end-to-end SIOP framework, coordinating long-term scenario planning, short-term production execution, inventory strategy, and financial integration.
• Drive the adoption of modern technologies, automation tools, and built-to-suit software applications to improve planning capabilities, user experience, and reporting transparency.
• Champion real-time scheduling, real-time inventory visibility, and ERP reporting to eliminate data latency in decision-making.
• Develop value chain optimization models covering raw material strategy, internal constraints, and multi-location factory synergies.
• Partner with Strategy, Product, and Finance to build multi-year forecasts supporting the commercial roadmap and capital planning.
• Build, mentor, and inspire a strategic planning team fostering continuous improvement and cross-department collaboration.

Who You Are

The Director of Strategic Planning will design, scale, and lead the overarching demand, production, and supply chain planning ecosystem for Sila’s next-generation battery materials. Sitting at the intersection of Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Sales, Strategy, and Finance, you will architect business processes, advanced systems, and executive reporting to drive organizational alignment. You will own and elevate the Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning (SIOP) process, transforming traditional planning into an agile, tech-forward engine capable of supporting rapid gigafactory scaling. As a champion of continuous innovation, you will relentlessly push systems toward real-time optimization, adopting cutting-edge technologies, automation, and custom-built software solutions to maximize operational transparency and execution speed.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Executive SIOP Ownership: Lead and modernize the end-to-end SIOP framework, orchestrating long-term scenario planning, short-term production execution, inventory strategy, and cross-functional financial integration.
• Tech & Automation Roadmap: Drive the adoption of modern technologies, automation tools, and built-to-suit software applications to improve planning capabilities, user experience, and reporting transparency across the enterprise.
• Real-Time Systems & Optimization: Champion a relentless push toward real-time scheduling, real-time inventory visibility, and next-gen ERP reporting capabilities to eliminate data latency in critical decision-making.
• Value Chain & Greenfield Scaling: Develop and refine value chain optimization models—covering raw material strategy, internal process constraints, and multi-location factory synergies—to support next-generation gigafactories.
• Long-Term Strategic Alignment: Partner with Strategy, Product, and Finance executives to build multi-year forecasts that directly support Sila’s commercial roadmap and capital planning.
• Team Leadership & Mentorship: Build, mentor, and inspire a strategic planning team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, structured problem-solving, and cross-departmental collaboration.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

• Experience: Minimum of 10+ years in strategic planning, supply chain, or industrial operations leadership within complex manufacturing or hardware environments (e.g., battery, chemical, semiconductor, automotive).
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related technical field.
• Systems & Automation Mastery: Proven track record of evaluating, selecting, and implementing advanced planning technologies, custom-built software, and enterprise systems.
• Strategic Vision & Technical Depth: Demonstrated expertise in value-chain optimization modeling, inventory theory, and real-time scheduling architectures.
• Leadership & Influence: Strong executive presence with a track record of driving cross-functional consensus, building high-performing teams, and influencing executive leadership.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

• Move long distances (such as from building to building) and be stationary for extended periods of time
• Operate a computer and other office equipment, such as a laptop, copier/printer, etc in a fixed location

The starting base pay for this role is between $193,000 and $244,000 at the time of posting. The actual base pay depends on many factors, such as education, experience, and skills. Base pay is only one part of Sila’s competitive Total Rewards package that can include benefits, perks, and equity. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
