Rush University Medical Center in Chicago seeks a Director of Strategic Development Communications to lead content strategy and editorial support for philanthropic proposals and reports. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in journalism, marketing, English or a related field.
• A minimum of seven years’ experience with philanthropy writing, including gift proposal development of $1 million or more, with health care and/or higher education preferred.
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills, including the ability to articulate Rush’s mission and campaign vision to a variety of constituencies with poise and diplomacy.
• Professional demeanor and strong analytical/interviewing skills; curiosity about health care and biomedicine.
• Familiarity with AP style and inclusive language; willingness to apply best practices for equitable language.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint; willingness to learn new technology.

Responsabilités

• Strategy and Process Oversight: Lead strategy for a defined segment of strategic development communications within the donor cycle and ensure quality and timely delivery.
• Subject Matter Expertise: Develop SME on Rush priorities; build relationships with faculty partners and gift officers for information gathering.
• Best Practices: Develop templates and toolkits; coach junior gift officers on strategic communications and editorial review.
• Leadership: Oversee at least one FTE; provide coaching and editorial review to advance donor communications.
• Messaging Development and Consultation: Drive messaging strategy with gift officers; draft executive communications and talking points.
• Content Sharing and Distribution: Organize and distribute content to stakeholders; maintain a library of Rush priorities.
• Communications Collaboration: Liaise with Marketing Communications and cross-functional teams.
• Other duties as assigned.
