Chewonki Foundation seeks an experienced Director of Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement to lead fundraising, donor relations and alumni programs. This senior role drives strategies, manages a major donor portfolio, and partners with the President and Board on campaigns.

The position reports to the President, is on-campus with hybrid options in Wiscasset, ME, and requires evening/weekend duties as needed. Competitive benefits and salary are provided.

Qualifications

• At least 10 years of relevant professional experience in advancement or engagement leadership.
• At least 5 years in major donor fundraising for a nonprofit organization.
• Strong tech proficiency with CRM systems (Salesforce preferred), Excel and Google Workspace.
• Excellent organizational, strategic, written, verbal, interpersonal and public speaking skills.
• Proven ability to build collaborative relationships with donors, colleagues and external partners.
• Ability to pass background and motor vehicle checks and maintain a valid driver’s license.
• Ability to travel and meet physical requirements including extended computer use.

Responsabilités

• Lead annual fundraising strategies, major gift cultivation, planned giving, grant management, and the Discovery Campaign through 2027.
• Manage a portfolio of 50–75 major donors with personalized cultivation and stewardship plans.
• Develop and implement alumni engagement initiatives including reunions, networking, mentorship and volunteer programs.
• Lead the Development Committee and serve as staff liaison to the Board Development and Governance Committee.
• Supervise and develop the Annual Fund and Alumni Coordinator and Donor Relations Manager, budgeting and performance oversight.
• Foster a culture of philanthropy and collaboration across Chewonki.
• Participate in occasional evening/weekend activities, donor engagement/travel, Board meetings and campus operations.
